About The Position

Raytheon’s Electrical Systems Engineering team develops Guidance Electronics solutions and missile guidance electronics hardware across the Raytheon portfolio. The Senior Subsystem Engineer integrates and validates electronics designs during program development. This includes testing hardware, assessing performance, resolving failures, conducting analysis and modeling, and preparing test reports. The engineer collaborates with design teams to influence design iterations and works with missile-level integration engineers to hand off and support hardware. The work is primarily in an office and laboratory environment, with possible occasional field work and travel, including foreign travel. The role may involve leading multiple efforts across one or more programs, working independently or within multidisciplinary teams, and collaborating with management, customers, and suppliers. Employees are expected to serve as both mentors and mentees.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a bachelor’s degree in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM) and at least 5 years of relevant experience with electrical hardware development and/or testing.
  • At least 5 years of experience in one or more of the following: RF product and subassembly design, integration, and production or supplier support; analog and power subassembly design, integration, and production or supplier support; or digital or mixed-signal subassembly design, integration, and production or supplier support.
  • Experience in requirements development and requirements validation.
  • An active and transferable U.S. government-issued security clearance is required before the start date; U.S. citizenship is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in systems engineering and architecture, with an interest in growing into an engineering fellow role.
  • Experience with environmental profiles and test configurations covering thermal, vibration, shock, humidity, altitude, and acceleration.
  • Experience using laboratory instrumentation to troubleshoot and measure electrical signals.
  • Experience with test equipment used to test electronics functionality.
  • Experience with fault trees, 5-why analysis, and fishbone root-cause failure analysis.
  • Experience working with missiles or similar systems.
  • Experience working with systems requirements.
  • Experience presenting at failure review boards and to leadership and customers.
  • Experience leading small teams for test and integration efforts.
  • Knowledge of mixed-signal electronics.
  • Experience managing cross-functional test and integration teams, including structural analysts, mechanical engineers, thermal analysts, test architects, and systems engineers.
  • Knowledge of DoD hardware development processes and design gates.
  • Practical experience across all phases of the product development lifecycle.
  • Experience developing test plans, test procedures, Test Readiness Reviews (TRR), test reports, and test data reviews.
  • Knowledge of or experience with Model Based System Engineering (MBSE).
