Senior RF Engineer

Anduril•Fort Collins, CO
•$144,000 - $192,000

About The Position

Anduril Industries is seeking a Senior RF Engineer for its Battlespace Awareness Radar team. The team develops radar systems, owning development from early ideation through initial production. In this role, the engineer will help build active electronically scanned arrays (AESAs) for radar applications across various frequency bands, from architecture definition through hardware bring-up, field testing, and initial production. The team works across antenna element design, RF front-end electronics, array integration, and test infrastructure. The engineer will design analog beamforming AESA subsystems incorporating transmit/receive modules, beamforming ICs, corporate feed networks, and front-end filtering. The role also involves cross-disciplinary architecture work, RF characterization and troubleshooting, and mentoring junior engineers. Work locations listed are Broomfield or Fort Collins, Colorado, and Costa Mesa or Goleta, California. Applicants must be eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Top Secret security clearance. The posted U.S. salary range is $144,000–$192,000, base salary only. Anduril states that equity grants are included in the majority of full-time offers and describes a competitive benefits package for full-time employees, without listing specific benefits in this posting. Transcripts are requested during the early application process; unofficial online transcripts are acceptable, and applicants who do not provide transcripts must provide detailed information about relevant academic performance, coursework, and projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, electronics engineering, computer engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 8 years of professional experience developing RF electronics, phased arrays, antennas, or related radar electronics.
  • Experience leading active phased-array designs using beamforming technologies from concept through production in a defense or aerospace environment.
  • Deep understanding of electronic systems engineering, including design specifications, part selection, and RF-system test planning.
  • Ability to lead technical initiatives, solve complex problems, and implement innovative solutions with attention to detail.
  • Strong PCB design knowledge, including schematic capture and specifying and reviewing layouts; experience with tools such as Altium.
  • Proficiency in RF design and analysis tools such as Ansys HFSS, Keysight ADS, or comparable tools.
  • Expertise with RF measurement equipment, including network analyzers, signal analyzers, and near-field scanners.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C++, or similar for design, simulation, and automated testing.
  • Demonstrated experience working across multidisciplinary teams in fast-paced environments.
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Top Secret security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in RF/Microwave Engineering.
  • Knowledge of antenna array simulation, design, and manufacturing.
  • Experience leading high-frequency RF PCB designs and high-density interconnect routing, with working knowledge of microvias, multiple sub-laminations, and stack-up decisions.
  • Experience calibrating wideband phased arrays across frequency and temperature.

Responsibilities

  • Own RF design of analog beamforming AESA subsystems, incorporating T/R modules, beamforming ICs, corporate feed networks, and front-end filtering for radar applications.
  • Conduct trade studies, RF simulations, and prototyping to improve innovation and system performance.
  • Lead design reviews and make architecture trade decisions across antenna, RF front-end, and digital domains.
  • Collaborate with antenna, digital, mechanical, and systems engineering teams to define array architectures that meet user needs in the field.
  • Incorporate design-for-manufacturing (DFM) and design-for-test (DFT) considerations into system designs.
  • Lead RF characterization of AESA hardware, including near-field antenna range measurements, RF front-end performance mapping, and system-level radar mode verification.
  • Troubleshoot hardware issues and drive root-cause analysis through resolution.
  • Mentor junior RF engineers in phased-array fundamentals, measurement techniques, and design discipline.
  • Set standards for schematic quality, simulation rigor, and test documentation across the team.

Benefits

  • Highly competitive equity grants are included in the majority of full-time offers.
  • Competitive benefits package for full-time employees, described as available at little to no cost to employees.
