About The Position

GHD's Construction Management Group is expanding, and we are seeking a Senior Construction Manager with a proven track record of on-time and on-budget project delivery. This role will provide construction phase support services to new and existing clients on multiple simultaneous projects, with construction values up to $250 million each. The position can be located anywhere in the western US, with projects anticipated in California between Fresno and northern Los Angeles. GHD has offices in Fresno, San Luis Obispo, and Los Angeles. As part of a global team working on complex and rewarding projects, you will be at the forefront of driving change. Our workplace operates on a hybrid model, blending in-office collaboration with flexibility. Employees are expected to join the office or project site three days a week, with remote options potentially available based on applicant location.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or equivalent combination of education and management experience
  • Minimum 15 years of experience as Construction Manager and/or Resident Engineer on multiple simultaneous construction projects
  • Experience with web based document management systems

Nice To Haves

  • CCM certification or Professional Engineer (PE) license

Responsibilities

  • Construction Management for environmental construction, site remediation, civil construction, and decommissioning projects, primarily for an oil and gas client in the US West Region. Additional project opportunities include water (pumping stations, pipelines, treatment facilities), transportation (roads, trails, traffic improvements), and coastal/environmental/energy projects.
  • Involvement in planning, permitting, design, and procurement phases, in addition to leading during the construction phase.
  • Develop, deliver, and manage budget plans and schedules for construction projects, monitoring and performing budget progress and post-calculations.
  • Contribute to the design and creation of reporting strategies and templates, leading the execution of complex reports, identifying and interpreting trends, and translating insights into actionable recommendations. Direct communication with the client team.
  • Collaborate with the client development team and lead procurement efforts, including proposal and interview preparation.
  • Provide specialist professional advice on construction regulations and best practices related to constructability, cost evaluations, and sequencing for environmental and civil construction projects.
  • Develop policies and processes, create best practices, set up case studies, and deliver internal knowledge-sharing sessions to capture and share knowledge among colleagues on project/program outcomes and innovative practices.
  • Act as a subject matter expert in construction management and execution for the team, maintaining external accreditations and an in-depth understanding of current and emerging regulations and industry best practices through continuing professional development.
  • Conduct complex feasibility studies from technological, financial, and organizational perspectives on bid solicitation, including RFP and RFT project requirements, and review tender specifications.
  • Monitor and review performance and behaviors to identify and resolve noncompliance with organizational policies and relevant regulatory codes.
  • Manage important client relationships with guidance from senior colleagues or oversee relationship management with a group of more transactional clients.
