About The Position

GHD is seeking a Senior Construction Manager with proven on-time and on-budget delivery capabilities to join its growing Construction Management Group. This role will provide construction phase support services to new and existing clients on multiple simultaneous projects with a construction value of up to $250M each. The position is located anywhere in the western US, with projects anticipated in California between Fresno and northern Los Angeles. GHD has nearby offices in Fresno, San Luis Obispo, and Los Angeles. The company is looking for individuals who are curious, stimulated by fresh thinking, and desire to shape communities in new, positive ways. As part of a global team working on complex and rewarding projects, the role will be at the forefront of driving change. The company operates on a hybrid work model, requiring three days a week in the office or at a project site, with potential remote options based on applicant location.

Requirements

  • Minimum 15 years of experience as Construction Manager and/or Resident Engineer on multiple simultaneous construction projects
  • Experience with web based document management systems

Nice To Haves

  • CCM certification or Professional Engineer (PE) license a plus, although not required

Responsibilities

  • Construction Management for environmental construction, site remediation, civil construction, and decommissioning projects with a key oil and gas client in the US West Region. Additional project opportunities exist in water (i.e. pumping stations, pipelines, treatment facilities, etc.), transportation (roads, trails, traffic improvements), as well as coastal, environmental, energy.
  • Involvement in the planning, permitting, design, and procurement phases, in addition to leading during the construction phase.
  • Develop, deliver, and manage budget plans and schedules for construction projects. Monitor and perform budget progress and post-calculations.
  • Contribute to the design and creation of reporting strategies and templates. Lead execution of complex reports, identifying and interpreting complex patterns and trends, and translating those insights into actionable recommendations. Communicate directly with client team.
  • Collaborate with client development team, lead procurement efforts including proposal and interview preparation.
  • Provide specialist professional advice relating to construction regulations and best practice with regard to constructability, cost evaluations, and sequencing for environmental and civil construction projects.
  • Develop policies and processes, create best practices, set up case studies, and deliver internal knowledge-sharing sessions to capture and share knowledge among colleagues on project/program outcomes and innovative practices in a particular area of expertise and to support the practice.
  • Act as subject matter expert in an area of construction management and execution for the team. Maintain external accreditations and in-depth understanding of current and emerging external regulation and industry best practices through continuing professional development, attending conferences, and reading specialist media.
  • Conduct complex feasibility studies from technological, financial, and organizational perspectives on bid solicitation, including request for proposal (RFP) and request for tender (RFT) project requirements, and review specifications for tenders.
  • Monitor and review performance and behaviors within area of responsibility to identify and resolve noncompliance with the organization's policies and relevant regulatory codes and codes of conduct.
  • Manage important client relationships with guidance from senior colleagues or oversee relationship management with a group of more transactional clients and customers.
