About The Position

GHD's Construction Management Group is expanding and seeking a Senior Construction Manager with proven on-time and on-budget delivery capabilities. This role will provide construction phase support services to clients on multiple simultaneous projects, with construction values up to $250M each. The position is open to candidates located anywhere in the western US, with projects anticipated in California between Fresno and northern Los Angeles. GHD has offices in Fresno, San Luis Obispo, and Los Angeles. The company is looking for creative and innovative individuals who are stimulated by fresh thinking and a desire to shape communities positively. This role is part of a global team working on complex and rewarding projects, driving change at the forefront of the industry. The company operates on a hybrid work model, requiring three days a week in the office or at a project site for collaboration and connection, with potential remote options based on applicant location.

Requirements

  • Minimum 15 years of experience as Construction Manager and/or Resident Engineer on multiple simultaneous construction projects
  • Experience with web based document management systems
  • Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or equivalent combination of education and management experience

Nice To Haves

  • CCM certification or Professional Engineer (PE) license a plus, although not required

Responsibilities

  • Construction Management for environmental construction, site remediation, civil construction, and decommissioning projects, primarily for a key oil and gas client in the US West Region. Additional project opportunities include water, transportation, coastal, environmental, and energy sectors. Involvement extends to planning, permitting, design, and procurement phases, offering a comprehensive project planning and delivery experience.
  • Construction Project Controls: Develop, deliver, and manage budget plans and schedules for construction projects. Monitor and perform budget progress and post-calculations.
  • Insights and Reporting: Contribute to the design and creation of reporting strategies and templates. Lead execution of complex reports, identifying and interpreting complex patterns and trends, and translating those insights into actionable recommendations. Communicate directly with the client team.
  • Project Development: Collaborate with the client development team, lead procurement efforts including proposal and interview preparation.
  • Construction Advice: Provide specialist professional advice relating to construction regulations and best practice with regard to constructability, cost evaluations, and sequencing for environmental and civil construction projects.
  • Knowledge Management: Develop policies and processes, create best practices, set up case studies, and deliver internal knowledge-sharing sessions to capture and share knowledge among colleagues on project/program outcomes and innovative practices in a particular area of expertise and to support the practice.
  • Personal Capability Building: Act as a subject matter expert in an area of construction management and execution for the team. Maintain external accreditations and in-depth understanding of current and emerging external regulation and industry best practices through continuing professional development, attending conferences, and reading specialist media.
  • Bid Solicitation/Request for Proposal/Tender Analysis: Conduct complex feasibility studies from technological, financial, and organizational perspectives on bid solicitation, including request for proposal (RFP) and request for tender (RFT) project requirements, and review specifications for tenders.
  • Operational Compliance: Monitor and review performance and behaviors within the area of responsibility to identify and resolve noncompliance with the organization's policies and relevant regulatory codes and codes of conduct.
  • Client & Customer Management (External): Manage important client relationships with guidance from senior colleagues or oversee relationship management with a group of more transactional clients and customers.
