About The Position

The Senior Reliability Engineer will support Anduril Intelligence Systems (AIS), which develops specialized engineering and products for Intelligence Community customers. The role partners with engineering, manufacturing, operations, quality, test, and field service teams to ensure autonomous systems perform reliably throughout their lifecycle, from early concept and design through production scale-up and field deployment. The engineer serves as a reliability champion across design and development, applying data-driven analysis to guide design decisions and improve product robustness. The work includes predictive reliability and maintainability analysis, FMEA and fault-tree analysis, qualification and production testing, failure investigations, and corrective and preventive actions. The position also helps establish reliability processes and infrastructure, supports production readiness and milestone reviews, and drives continuous design and process improvements.

Requirements

  • At least 8 years of experience as a Reliability Engineer, Design/Development Engineer, or Test Engineer.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, or an equivalent technical discipline.
  • Experience with safety-critical hardware and software systems in the defense or aerospace industry.
  • Experience or familiarity with MIL-STD-810, MIL-HDBK-217, MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-516C, and MIL-STD-1629.
  • Experience establishing a reliability engineering framework for a product or program, including production testing, field testing, data acquisition, and data analysis.
  • Expertise in reliability analysis techniques, including FMEA/FMECA, predictive modeling, Weibull analysis, and Fault Tree Analysis.
  • Experience generating qualification testing requirements and executing tests to characterize product behavior and performance.
  • Failure investigation and analysis experience, with a record of solving problems and preventing recurrence.
  • Design review experience (PDR, CDR, MRR) and confidence presenting to all levels of leadership.
  • Currently possesses and is able to maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, or an equivalent technical discipline.
  • Experience with MIL-HDBK-217Plus, MIL-HDBK-472, and MIL-STD-1916.
  • Experience with Manufacturing Readiness Level (MRL) assessments, Manufacturing Review Board (MRB), quality inspection, tooling, or calibration.
  • Experience with risk management, change control/change management reviews, and software/firmware HITL/SITL.
  • Experience with HALT, HASS, environmental testing, and/or mechanical testing.
  • Technical writing experience developing requirements, standards, specifications, user guides, and policies.

Responsibilities

  • Review system block diagrams, interface control documents, and schematics for compliance, redundancy, and accuracy against requirements and concepts of operations.
  • Lead Failure Modes & Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), working with engineering teams to implement design improvements.
  • Perform predictive reliability analysis, including calculations for probability of loss of control, loss of asset, and MTTF/MTBF using requirements, specifications, and applicable industry standards.
  • Develop and execute qualification and validation test plans, including environmental, life/limit, and accelerated testing; partner with Test Engineering to fixture and instrument test campaigns.
  • Work with Quality and Manufacturing Engineering to develop, refine, and validate assembly, integration, and testing processes, including inspection and acceptance test gates.
  • Develop maintainability prediction models and support development of preventative maintenance and sparing plans.
  • Perform Weibull analysis using qualification, production testing, and fielded-asset data to predict failures and identify trends.
  • Lead investigations of anomalies found during design validation, production testing, and field returns; drive root-cause analysis and corrective/preventative actions to closure.
  • Support development milestone reviews by identifying entry and exit criteria and guiding transition from engineering development to high-rate production.
  • Develop and implement standardized reliability processes, tools, and infrastructure for design, manufacturing, and deployment operations.
