About The Position

Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for a Senior Quality Control (Mechanical/Welding/Piping) Engineer opportunity to support the Savannah River Site. This role involves providing quality control support to the project team, directing personnel in implementing quality requirements, and accurately status results. The position requires performing construction quality control inspection and surveillance activities in support of project and/or maintenance activities. Safety is a primary responsibility, requiring adherence to safety training and rules, and taking steps to stop work if unsafe conditions arise. The role includes reviewing design output documents, coordinating with internal and external sources to resolve quality issues, and assessing the completeness of construction activities and quality verification documentation prior to turnover. Additionally, the position involves reviewing subcontractor's quality programs, attending mobilization meetings, monitoring subcontractor activities, and reviewing supplier and/or subcontractor quality verification documentation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline and at least 5 - 7 years of practical experience in construction inspection or related areas.
  • An associate's degree and 7 - 9 years of practical experience would be considered equivalent.
  • A high school diploma and 10 - 14 years of practical experience would also be considered equivalent.
  • Certification with continuing technical training is required for performance of inspections and surveillance activities.
  • Prior work experience working under an ASME NQA-1 quality program.
  • Prior DOE work experience.
  • Well-developed organizational skills with good communication skills.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Ability to obtain & maintain a DOE “Q” security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • An AWS CWI or prior SNT-TC-1A VT Level II certification.
  • Practical field experience in mechanical, piping, and welding quality control within the past 16 months.
  • Possessed an active DOE clearance (L or Q) within the past two (2) years.

Responsibilities

  • Provide quality control support to the project team and direct personnel to implement quality requirements and to accurately status the results.
  • Perform construction quality control inspection and surveillance activities in support of project and/or maintenance activities.
  • Review design output documents in accordance with approved procedures in order to establish inspection requirements in quality assurance procedures, construction plans, and/or work packages.
  • Coordinate with internal and external sources to resolve quality issues and provide status of the inspection/test activities for the work activity.
  • Review technical criteria, personnel qualifications and work sequence on work packages including the notation of hold points prior to performance of inspections.
  • Perform or direct the quality inspection activities of subordinate QC engineers and other inspection personnel as assigned.
  • Assist in resolution of code, specifications and drawing interpretations.
  • Perform or supervise the performance of inspection, witness, test, surveillance, and documents the results of the inspection activities.
  • Assess the completeness of construction activities and quality verification documentation prior to preparation of quality control releases for turnover.
  • Review subcontractor's quality program for compliance to established procedures, attends mobilization meetings and monitor their activities for proper implementation.
  • Review suppliers and/or subcontractor's quality verification documentation for traceability and specification compliance.
  • Review, assess and status subcontractors' costs, manpower and materials.
  • Approve subcontracts invoices and application for payment.
