About The Position

As a Senior Python Software Engineer on a Checkmk development team, you will build product features and help shape the product’s future. You will take features from idea to release across a Python backend and its APIs and a Vue.js/TypeScript frontend, scoping work together with Product Management. You will help shape the product’s AI assistant and contribute to decisions about using AI coding tools in software development.

The role also involves evolving a large, long-lived codebase, planning incremental changes that advance the product without disrupting customers. You will collaborate with UX, QA, Security, Product Management, and other development teams. Teams work in two-week sprints with daily meetings, retrospectives, and sprint planning, and continually improve their ways of working.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience with Python.
• Experience evolving a large, long-lived codebase.
• Experience driving technical decisions and making changes that span teams.
• Experience designing web APIs.
• Good understanding of Linux for navigating and troubleshooting efficiently.
• Business-fluent written and spoken English.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with Vue.js, React, or TypeScript.
• Familiarity with AI coding tools such as Claude Code and curiosity about their capabilities.
• Experience building LLM-based features, such as agents and their tool integrations.
• Interest in IT operations or monitoring.
• Interest in working on open-source software.

Responsibilities
