RESIDENT ENGINEER (M/F/D)
About The Position
HELLA Automotive Sales, Inc. is hiring a Resident Engineer for a hybrid position located in Northville, Michigan. The role provides customer support in acquisition and product coordination, customer service, and quality. It is responsible for meeting deadlines, controlling costs, preparing quotations, securing optimum pricing, identifying market developments, and contributing to the definition of future technologies and required measures. The Resident Engineer builds customer relationships and works toward personal and departmental objectives. The position involves supporting customer relationships through technical and commercial presentations and consultations, coordinating customer visits, representing HELLA on site, and supporting strategic customer issues. It also coordinates existing and development projects, customer and internal tasks, product rationalization and value-creation measures, and engineering change requests to deliver suitable technical solutions. The role monitors project costs and budgets, market and competitor activity, customer preferences, trends, and benchmark components. It supports internal departments in addressing serious production or quality issues, develops customer contacts, pursues new business through strategic selling, and participates in exhibitions.
Requirements
- Graduate in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.
Responsibilities
- Build and improve customer relationships through technical and commercial presentations and consultations.
- Coordinate customer visits, represent the company on site, and support strategically important customer issues.
- Maintain current business and obtain new orders to secure and improve turnover and yield.
- Look after existing and development projects at customers, and start or stop on-site developments in agreement with superiors.
- Process tasks set by customers or HELLA companies and forward resulting tasks to internal organizational units.
- Initiate product-specific rationalization and value-creation measures.
- Process engineering change management requests from HELLA or customers during and after project phases.
- Promote customer cost specifications related to product lifetime costs and special production costs.
- Arrange invoicing for samples, prototype-series deliveries, and tool costs to meet or stay below budgeted costs.
- Observe, analyze, and report on market conditions, competitor activities, customer wishes, trends, and benchmark components.
- Support company departments when serious issues arise during series production or processing, or when quality defects occur.
- Develop and maintain personal customer contacts to advance business opportunities.
- Conduct strategic-selling acquisition activities from early design-finding phases through order placement.
- Participate in exhibitions, provide booth service, and support internal activities.
