About The Position

The BRZ is Austria’s public-sector digitalization competence center and an IT service provider for the federal government. The E-Government Solutions 1 team is responsible for the continued development of central e-government applications for public administration, including ID Austria, oesterreich.gv.at, the Unternehmensserviceportal (USP), Mein Postkorb, and a chatbot that improves communication between citizens and public authorities. The team is also expanding its use of AI technologies and building related expertise.

In this role, you will develop GenAI applications using modern Python technologies, design and implement RAG architectures and intelligent assistant and automation solutions, and integrate databases, vector databases, and caching technologies. You will contribute throughout the application lifecycle, from technical design and implementation through deployment and operations to ongoing development. The role is based in Vienna, is full-time and permanent, and allows 60% teleworking. The stated starting annual gross salary for full-time work is €69,011.60, with the actual classification depending on qualifications and professional experience.

Requirements

• Completed technical education with an IT focus (HTL, university of applied sciences, or university).
• At least 5 years of software development experience.
• Very good knowledge of Python.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with FastAPI, asyncio, and PyTest.
• Practical experience developing GenAI applications using LangChain, RAG architectures, and prompt engineering.
• Knowledge of databases, vector databases, and caching technologies such as SQL, PGVector, Redis, or Infinispan.
• Experience with modern DevOps practices, ideally OpenShift or Kubernetes.
• Knowledge of JavaScript, TypeScript, React, and Next.js.

Responsibilities

• Develop GenAI applications based on modern Python technologies and contribute ideas to new solutions.
