GHD is seeking a Senior Project Engineer – Water Treatment to join our team based in either our Phoenix, AZ Irvine, or CA office. We are seeking someone with experience in the evaluation, planning, and/or design of Water and Wastewater treatment infrastructure projects, including alternatives analysis; preliminary and process design; treatment facilities design; and engineering services during construction. We are working on some of the most cutting-edge programs in the U.S., including organics-to-energy. As a Senior Project Engineer, you will provide design guidelines, technical oversight, project engineering and management services, client management and business development relating to Water and Wastewater projects. Further, you will have the opportunity to lead a dedicated team in sophisticated and innovative projects, support in the training and mentorship of engineers and other technicians and become part of our regional leadership team.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in the Water/Wastewater treatment design with emphasis on upgrades of Water/Wastewater treatment
• Bachelor’s degree in civil, Environmental, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering from an ABET accredited university

Nice To Haves

• Master’s degree in civil, Environmental, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering is preferred
• Valid CA or AZ Professional Engineering license is preferred, or a Professional Engineering license in another state with the ability to obtain a AZ license within one year preferred

Responsibilities

• Perform engineering duties in planning, designing, and overseeing construction and maintenance of building structures, and facilities, such as roads, railroads, airports, bridges, harbors, channels, dams, irrigation projects, pipelines, power plants, and water and sewage systems.
• Design engineering solutions and the associated validation process to enable the realization of a design brief (for example, in terms of functionality, performance, aesthetics, and cost) that conforms to organizational and/or regulatory standards.
• Contribute to the analysis of information, the drafting of engineering standards and specifications, and the evaluation of the effectiveness of those standards within own engineering discipline to inform engineering work in the organization and/or of its suppliers, contractors, and consultants.
• Deliver small- or medium-scale projects while working within an established program management plan.
• Analyze information and specify the methods and process steps, as well as the plant, machinery, and equipment, required to design and continuously improve manufacturing or materials processes and process systems to deliver the end product within specified cost and quality parameters.
• Deliver required outcomes by managing day-to-day relationships with contract service providers while working within an established contract management plan.
• Define and deliver products and services that meet customer needs by selecting the best possible approaches available within established systems.
• Work within established knowledge management systems to deliver preset outcomes for an area of responsibility.
• Develop own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching; gain or maintain external professional accreditation, where relevant, to improve performance and fulfill personal potential. Maintain an in-depth understanding of technology, external regulation, and industry best practices through ongoing education, attending conferences, and reading specialist media.
• Carry out inspections to evaluate the quality of engineering works and/or the integrity of existing installations or structures, and specify the remedial works needed to ensure conformance with specifications and regulatory requirements.
• Identify shortcomings in existing processes, systems, and procedures, and use established change management programs to address them.
• Manage relationships with small clients while also helping senior colleagues manage relationships with larger key clients and customers.
