About The Position

This position is with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Ft Worth District with a duty station of Corpus Christi, TX. The role involves field engineering and inspection, office engineering, materials testing and control, and administrative functions. The Senior Project Engineer will ensure effective execution of office responsibilities through review of correspondence and reports, problem-solving, and general observation of activities. This includes monitoring work performed, advising on work placement for optimal fund utilization, supervising and performing site condition investigations, preparing drawings, and developing cost estimates for contract changes due to unforeseen field conditions. The position also requires reviewing design plans, specifications, and cost estimates, informing contractors of their responsibilities, establishing controls for adherence to policies and procedures, and administering wage and hour laws for the contractor's labor force.

Requirements

  • Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in engineering OR Combination of Education and Experience that furnished a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying engineering and a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering.
  • For Engineer Degree: Program must lead to a bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by ABET; include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas: statics, dynamics; strength of materials; fluid mechanics, hydraulics; thermodynamics; electrical fields and circuits; nature and properties of materials; or any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics.
  • For Engineer Combination of Education and Experience: Professional registration or licensure as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or Professional Engineer (PE); OR Evidence of having successfully passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination or any other written test required for professional registration; OR Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences that included the courses specified in the degree requirement; OR Successful completion of a curriculum leading to a bachelor's degree in an appropriate scientific field (e.g., engineering technology, physics, chemistry, architecture, computer science, mathematics, hydrology, or geology) provided the applicant has at least 1 year of professional engineering experience acquired under professional engineering supervision and guidance.
  • Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes reviewing project designs to ensure contract plans and specifications are met; tracking project budgets and milestones; AND negotiating changes in design, cost or project milestones.
  • Must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
  • Proof of U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
