Senior Product Manager, International Platform and Globalization

About The Position

Clio is hiring a Senior Product Manager for International Platform and Globalization to deliver shared platform features that support Clio markets on a common product, including jurisdiction, currency, and other configuration layers. The role also leads the program to make Clio available in each market’s local language. The Product Manager works across International product, engineering, and design teams without a dedicated team, delivering through teams that do not report to them. The role owns platform feature execution from requirements through production and adoption across markets. It coordinates work across engineering teams responsible for platform layers and internationalization engineering, maintains visibility into feature availability and work in progress, and seeks to make subsequent market launches require configuration rather than substantial new code while protecting existing customers. It brings a cross-market perspective to regional product decisions, consolidates shared requirements, and presents options and recommendations when regional teams cannot agree. Success is measured by the speed at which features reach international markets, the proportion of the product suite available and localized in each market, and the time and engineering effort required for each new market launch. Quality in markets already live is a counter-metric; speed and coverage gains must not come at the expense of defects or translation errors. The Product Manager will establish and run a coordinated globalization operating model across Product, Engineering, Marketing, Customer Education, and Support. This includes coordinating local-language launches across those functions, managing translation vendors and language specialists, and setting quality expectations for vendor work and machine translation. The role requires technical engagement with platform architecture, data models, single-country assumptions, extensibility, cardinality, and migration decisions, in partnership with senior engineers and internationalization engineering. The role also builds support among central teams whose roadmaps may not account for international markets, and makes the tradeoffs involved in prioritizing international needs clear. The Product Manager sets a vision for supporting markets and is expected to deliver a customer- or market-visible change within the first 90 days. Where regulatory deadlines require it, a market-specific configuration may precede a general shared solution, with a plan to bring it into the shared platform. The role is expected to parallelize work where practical and communicate the schedule cost of sequencing it. Clio expects an AI-first working style, using AI for activities such as research synthesis, requirements drafting, data querying, program tracking, and prototyping, while verifying outputs that require human review, including machine translation and compliance-related work. The position partners with leaders across Product, Engineering, Design, Marketing, Customer Education, Support, Finance, Legal, and Operations in Toronto, Vancouver, Europe, and Asia Pacific. The role is based in Toronto or the US Eastern time zone, with daily overlap with Europe and North America and one or two early or late calls each week with Asia Pacific. This is a backfill for an existing position. Clio describes its work environment as hybrid. Local employees in Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto, Dublin, London, New York City, and Sydney are expected to work in an office at least twice per week. The stated salary range is $137,500 to $186,100 CAD, with initial placement informed by geographic region, experience, and skillset.

Requirements

  • At least 7 years of product management experience, including at least 3 years owning platform, infrastructure, or shared capabilities used by other product teams.
  • Experience delivering configuration or platform capabilities adopted in production by at least three markets or product teams, such as multi-currency, multi-jurisdiction, or localization capabilities.
  • Experience running a cross-functional program spanning product and go-to-market teams, including managing external vendors to a quality bar and deadline.
  • Technical depth to own data-model and migration decisions with senior engineers, from an engineering background or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • Evidence of having shipped a platform capability that reduced the time or effort required of other teams, including before-and-after numbers.
  • Evidence of delivering through teams that do not report to the candidate and are not accountable for the candidate’s outcome.
  • Demonstrated AI-native working style with specific examples of AI use in product practice.
  • Based in Toronto or the US Eastern time zone, with daily overlap with Europe and North America and one or two early or late calls per week with Asia Pacific.
  • Experience using data to inform decisions without analysis paralysis.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and comfort operating in ambiguity.
  • Ability to work collaboratively without ego.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience running localization programs using translation management systems and machine-translation post-editing.
  • Knowledge of internationalization standards such as Unicode, ICU, and CLDR.
  • Experience building payments, tax, or billing capabilities across at least three countries.
  • Experience building for multiple hosting regions or data-residency requirements.
  • Professional proficiency in a second language.
  • Experience building internal tooling or agents to support product practice.

Responsibilities

  • Own platform feature delivery from requirements through production and adoption across markets, including jurisdiction, currency, and other market configuration layers.
  • Coordinate platform work across the engineering teams that own each layer and internationalization engineering; set plans and sequence work across teams.
  • Maintain a current view of which platform capabilities each market can use and which are still in progress.
  • Design platform capabilities so subsequent market launches can rely increasingly on configuration and require less new code, without disrupting existing customers.
  • Bring a cross-market perspective to regional product decisions by identifying shared needs, existing capabilities, and the costs of options for future markets.
  • Consolidate requirements from regional Product Managers across Europe, Asia Pacific, and North America and route shared needs to the responsible team.
  • When regional Product Managers cannot reach a decision, present leadership with options, a recommendation, and the cost of waiting.
  • Improve feature delivery velocity, product-suite coverage and localization across markets, and the time and engineering effort required for new market launches while protecting quality in live markets.
  • Define and operate a globalization model coordinating Product, Engineering, Marketing, Customer Education, and Support.
  • Coordinate product, help content, marketing, and support localization so they are ready for a market launch on the same date.
  • Own translation vendor strategy and management, including contracted language specialists, and set quality expectations for vendor and machine-translation output.
  • Assess platform architecture and data models, including single-country assumptions and the cost of changes for existing customers.
  • Lead technical design discussions with staff and principal engineers on cardinality, extensibility, and migration, and document decisions.
  • Partner with internationalization engineering on the translation pipeline, locale formats, and testing for hard-coded country assumptions.
  • Build the case for international platform work with central teams and explain the tradeoffs involved in requested prioritization.
  • Set a vision for how Clio supports markets and deliver a customer- or market-visible change within the first 90 days.
  • Handle market-specific configurations when regulatory deadlines precede a general shared solution, and plan to move those capabilities into the shared platform.
  • Parallelize work where possible and communicate the schedule cost when choosing to serialize it.
  • Use AI in product work, build practical working systems such as prompts, chained tools, agents, or scripts, and verify outputs that require review.
  • Manage stakeholder relationships across a matrixed organization with clarity and diplomacy.
  • Partner with leaders across Product, Engineering, Design, Marketing, Customer Education, Support, Finance, Legal, and Operations in Toronto, Vancouver, Europe, and Asia Pacific.
