About The Position

Avathon is hiring a Senior Product Manager to own Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) on its Industrial AI platform. The platform connects existing PLM systems—including Teamcenter, Windchill, 3DEXPERIENCE, and Oracle Agile—to ERP, MES, supply-chain, and asset data through a Computational Knowledge Graph. The role will develop product capabilities such as tracing engineering-change impacts, comparing bills of materials across systems, finding similar parts, and supporting new product introduction. This is a product management role in Product Engineering, not a customer delivery or design role. The Senior Product Manager will own the PLM product vision, roadmap, and priorities; conduct customer and market discovery; translate deployment insights into reusable requirements; and guide execution with engineering and AI science. The role also partners with sales and solution architects on positioning and competitive deals, measures adoption and customer value, and creates product documentation and field enablement. The role is based in the Bay Area, California. It is not remote, and the employee is expected to report to Avathon’s Pleasanton office five days a week. The annual salary range is $140,000–$180,000, with pay depending on factors including location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

Requirements

  • At least 8 years of product management experience, including at least 4 years owning a PLM product or module.
  • Experience at a PLM vendor such as Siemens, PTC, Dassault Systèmes, Oracle, Aras, SAP PLM, or Propel, or experience leading PLM at a large manufacturer.
  • Deep understanding of BOM management (EBOM and MBOM), engineering change, variants, effectivity, and configuration management.
  • Understanding of how PLM integrates with CAD/PDM, ERP, MES, and quality systems.
  • Experience shipping AI- or ML-driven product features to enterprise customers.
  • Experience in automotive, aerospace, defense, semiconductor equipment, or industrial manufacturing.
  • Strong written communication and ability to work across engineering, sales, and customers.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Computer Science.
  • Must be based in the Bay Area, California, and report to the Pleasanton office five days a week.

Nice To Haves

  • MBA or MS degree.

Responsibilities

  • Own the vision, roadmap, and priorities for PLM capabilities, including BOM management, engineering-change impact, digital thread, part search, and NPI support.
  • Understand the PLM market and identify where an AI layer adds value to systems such as Siemens Teamcenter, PTC Windchill, Dassault 3DEXPERIENCE, Oracle Agile, Aras, and Arena.
  • Decide which PLM connectors and data models are core product and which remain customer configuration.
  • Define how PLM data feeds Planning, Logistics, and asset maintenance on the platform.
  • Spend time with engineering, configuration management, and manufacturing teams at customer sites to conduct discovery.
  • Work with Forward Deployed Design Leads to convert deployment findings into reusable product requirements.
  • Work with sales and solution architects on positioning, demos, and competitive deals.
  • Track adoption and customer value, including change cycle time, BOM synchronization latency, and time to clear an ECR.
  • Write requirements and acceptance criteria for engineering and AI science.
  • Run sprint planning and release reviews with the engineering lead.
  • Make scope, quality, and timing trade-offs and communicate them clearly to leadership.
  • Create product documentation, release notes, and field enablement.
