PLM Product Owner

YETI•Austin, TX

About The Position

YETI is seeking a PLM Product Owner to serve as the functional lead and product-facing representative for its PLM ecosystem, including platforms such as Teamcenter and Centric. The role bridges engineering, business teams, and IT architecture, translating business needs into scalable PLM solutions. It is a functional product ownership and domain-expertise role, rather than a pure development position, focused on promoting standardized, supportable processes across the product lifecycle. The Product Owner leads PLM process design, standardization, and governance; supports CAD and engineering data management; represents PLM requirements in integration design; and delivers functional configuration, validation, and troubleshooting. The role also drives user adoption, change management, and continuous improvement through training, documentation, and guidance.

Requirements

  • More than 8 years of experience working in PLM environments.
  • Hands-on exposure to Teamcenter, Centric, or similar PLM systems.
  • Strong understanding of CAD/PLM integrations, such as SolidWorks.
  • Strong understanding of BOM structures, including EBOM and Design BOM.
  • Strong understanding of product data and document lifecycle management.
  • Experience working in cross-functional environments that bridge business and IT.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting global or multi-region engineering organizations.
  • Familiarity with SAP integration concepts, including material master alignment, BOM synchronization, and change management processes.
  • Exposure to MDM platforms such as STIBO or an equivalent.
  • Understanding of integration concepts such as APIs, data mapping, and system interoperability.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the functional product owner and domain representative for PLM platforms such as Teamcenter and Centric.
  • Act as the primary liaison among engineering, business stakeholders, and IT teams.
  • Facilitate workshops and working sessions to clarify requirements, align stakeholders, and enable decisions.
  • Translate business needs into clear functional and technical requirements and recommend scalable, supportable solutions aligned with enterprise architecture.
  • Lead definition and continuous improvement of Engineering Change Management (ECR/ECN), document management and lifecycle control, CAD structures, EBOM and downstream BOM alignment, and product data governance and classification.
  • Establish and promote PLM governance standards, address adoption and consistency gaps, and harmonize processes across multi-region engineering teams.
  • Identify inefficiencies and lead efforts to improve data quality, traceability, and process clarity.
  • Support integration and alignment of CAD tools such as SolidWorks with PLM systems.
  • Define and enforce standards for CAD file structures and dependencies, revision and version control, and metadata and attribute management.
  • Partner with engineering teams to resolve data inconsistency, poor structure or usability, and lack of standardization, while ensuring PLM design supports real-world engineering workflows.
  • Define and document PLM functional requirements for integrations with SAP, MDM platforms such as STIBO, and other upstream and downstream systems.
  • Represent PLM in integration design discussions and partner with integration architects and development teams to ensure requirements are represented and solutions align with PLM processes and data structures.
  • Support integration testing and validation to ensure data integrity and process continuity.
  • Configure and optimize workflows, attributes, and data models; support functional testing, coordinate with QA and IT teams, and assist with troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
  • Drive user adoption of PLM tools and standardized processes.
  • Develop and support training materials, process documentation, user guidance, and best practices.
  • Advise business users on PLM capabilities and lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on adoption, data quality, and process efficiency.
