PLM Product Owner

YETI Coolers•Austin, TX

About The Position

YETI is seeking a PLM Product Owner to serve as the functional lead and product-facing representative for its PLM ecosystem, including platforms such as Teamcenter and Centric. The role works at the intersection of engineering, business teams, and IT architecture, bridging business needs with scalable PLM solutions. It is a functional product ownership and domain-expertise role, rather than a pure development position, and focuses on guiding stakeholders toward standardized, supportable processes across the product lifecycle. The Product Owner leads PLM process design, standardization, governance, CAD and engineering data management, and functional requirements for integrations with systems such as SAP and MDM platforms. The role also supports PLM configuration, testing, troubleshooting, user adoption, training, and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate combines functional PLM expertise, technical fluency, facilitation skills, and the ability to influence stakeholders and improve adoption in environments with evolving governance and design practices.

Requirements

  • More than 8 years of experience working in PLM environments.
  • Hands-on exposure to PLM platforms such as Teamcenter, Centric, or similar systems.
  • Strong understanding of CAD/PLM integrations, such as SolidWorks.
  • Strong understanding of BOM structures, including EBOM and Design BOM.
  • Strong understanding of product data and document lifecycle management.
  • Experience working in cross-functional environments bridging business and IT.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills, including the ability to influence stakeholders.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting global or multi-region engineering organizations.
  • Familiarity with SAP integration concepts, including material master alignment, BOM synchronization, and change management processes.
  • Exposure to MDM platforms such as STIBO or equivalent.
  • Understanding of integration concepts such as APIs, data mapping, and system interoperability.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as functional product owner and domain representative for PLM platforms such as Teamcenter and Centric.
  • Act as the primary liaison between engineering, business stakeholders, and IT teams.
  • Facilitate workshops and working sessions to align stakeholders, clarify requirements, and enable decisions.
  • Translate business needs into well-defined functional and technical requirements.
  • Recommend scalable, supportable PLM solutions aligned with enterprise architecture.
  • Lead definition and continuous improvement of PLM processes, including engineering change management, document management and lifecycle control, CAD structures, EBOM and downstream BOM alignment, and product data governance and classification.
  • Establish and promote PLM governance standards and address gaps in adoption and consistency.
  • Drive process harmonization across multi-region engineering teams.
  • Identify inefficiencies and lead initiatives to improve data quality, traceability, and process clarity.
  • Support integration and alignment of CAD tools such as SolidWorks with PLM systems.
  • Define and enforce standards for CAD file structures and dependencies, revision and version control, and metadata and attribute management.
  • Partner with engineering teams to resolve data inconsistency, poor structure or usability, and lack of standardization while ensuring PLM design supports engineering workflows.
  • Define and document PLM functional requirements for integrations with SAP, MDM platforms such as STIBO, and other upstream or downstream systems.
  • Represent PLM requirements in integration design discussions and partner with integration architects and development teams to ensure alignment with PLM processes and data structures.
  • Support testing and validation of integrations to ensure data integrity and process continuity.
  • Configure and optimize workflows and attributes, and configure data models; the role is primarily functional and does not focus on custom development or platform engineering.
  • Support solution validation through functional testing and coordination with QA and IT teams.
  • Assist with troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
  • Drive user adoption of PLM tools and standardized processes.
  • Develop and support training materials, process documentation, user guidance, and best practices.
  • Advise business users on PLM capabilities.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on adoption, data quality, and process efficiency.
