Avathon•Pleasanton, CA
•$140,000 - $180,000•Onsite

About The Position

Avathon is hiring a Senior Product Manager to own Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) on its Industrial AI platform. The role is in Product Engineering, not customer delivery or design. Avathon connects existing PLM systems—including Teamcenter, Windchill, 3DEXPERIENCE, and Oracle Agile—to ERP, MES, supply chain, and asset data in its Computational Knowledge Graph. The product uses AI to trace engineering changes to downstream impacts, compare bills of materials across systems, find similar parts, and support new product introduction. The Product Manager will own the PLM product vision, roadmap, and priorities, including BOM management, engineering change impact, digital thread, part search, and NPI support. The role includes defining which connectors and data models are core product versus customer configuration, and how PLM data supports Planning, Logistics, and asset maintenance. The position also involves customer and market discovery, product execution with engineering and AI science teams, and enabling sales and field teams. This is an onsite role based in the Bay Area, California. The employee is expected to report to Avathon’s Pleasanton office five days a week. The annual pay range is $140,000–$180,000, with compensation varying based on factors including location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

Requirements

  • At least 8 years of product management experience, including at least 4 years owning a PLM product or module.
  • Experience at a PLM vendor such as Siemens (Teamcenter), PTC (Windchill or Arena), Dassault Systèmes, Oracle (Agile or Fusion PLM), Aras, SAP PLM, or Propel, or experience leading PLM at a large manufacturer.
  • Deep understanding of BOM management (EBOM, MBOM), engineering change, variants, effectivity, and configuration management.
  • Understanding of how PLM integrates with CAD/PDM, ERP, MES, and quality systems.
  • Experience shipping AI- or ML-driven product features to enterprise customers.
  • Experience in automotive, aerospace, defense, semiconductor equipment, or industrial manufacturing.
  • Strong written communication skills and ability to work across engineering, sales, and customers.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Computer Science.
  • Must be based in the Bay Area, California, and report to the Pleasanton office five days a week.

Nice To Haves

  • MBA or MS degree.

  • Understand the PLM market and determine where an AI layer adds value alongside existing PLM systems.
  • Decide which PLM connectors and data models are core product and which remain customer configuration.
  • Define how PLM data feeds Planning, Logistics, and asset maintenance on the platform.
  • Spend time with customer engineering, configuration management, and manufacturing teams at customer sites.
  • Partner with Forward Deployed Design Leads to turn deployment learnings into reusable product requirements.
  • Work with sales and solution architects on positioning, demos, and competitive deals.
  • Track product adoption and value, including change cycle time, BOM sync latency, and time to clear an ECR.
  • Write requirements and acceptance criteria for engineering and AI science teams.
  • Run sprint planning and release reviews with the engineering lead.
  • Make and clearly communicate trade-offs involving scope, quality, and timing to leadership.
  • Create product documentation, release notes, and field enablement materials.
