About The Position

Adyen is hiring a Senior Product Experience Designer to own the end-to-end user experience across its developer platform. The platform enables thousands of merchants to integrate, configure, and scale Adyen’s payments and financial products. The role focuses on evolving developer experience for an AI-native world, including secure identity and access, APIs, real-time events, documentation, integration observability, plugins, and agentic workflows. The Product Experiencer will work closely with Product Managers, Engineers, Data Analytics teams, API architects, and core engineering teams. They will lead discovery and research, define product vision and strategy, and design developer touchpoints across the integration lifecycle. The role is based in Adyen’s San Francisco office, with an expectation to work in-office at least three days per week on average.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Interaction Design, Product Design, HCI, Information Design, or a related technical field.
  • At least 8 years of experience designing complex software solutions, preferably in B2B, SaaS, or developer-focused tools.
  • A portfolio demonstrating the ability to simplify technical workflows.
  • Deep understanding of developer mental models, API design standards such as REST and webhooks, SDK structures, and code-based workflows.
  • Ability to read code snippets, inspect JSON payloads, and partner directly with software architects.
  • Ability to structure complex ecosystems and maintain consistency and logic across multi-layered platforms.
  • Ability to adapt to changing conditions and turn complex, uncertain technical challenges into structured, actionable opportunities.
  • Ability to prioritize high-value problems and deliver measurable business and user impact through pragmatic execution.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with business banking, payments, or enterprise financial services.
  • Experience designing for data-dense surfaces and working within regulatory or financial constraints.

Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of broad, undefined problem spaces in the developer domain by defining problem statements, mapping end-to-end technical user journeys, and building strategic product visions.
  • Plan and conduct research with technical audiences, including CTOs, developers, and integration engineers, and turn technical constraints into human-centered solutions.
  • Balance information density for technical users and financial controllers with intuitive self-service usability.
  • Design end-to-end developer touchpoints, including interactive API reference documentation, sandboxes, SDKs, webhooks, and developer dashboard tools.
  • Architect workflows that improve time to first Hello World and production go-lives while reducing cognitive load for integration engineers and solution architects.
  • Develop API mental models, parameter naming standards, and error-handling UX patterns with API architects and engineering teams.
  • Design interfaces for AI-assisted development tools, code-generation workflows, and autonomous agent-based integrations.
  • Partner with Product, Engineering, and Data Analytics teams on tactical roadmaps and long-term product strategy.
  • Create design requirements, wireframes, high-fidelity prototypes, and design specifications to support engineering implementation.
  • Measure and optimize developer adoption and integration velocity using user metrics, feedback loops, and usability testing.
  • Take ownership of customer success and mentor fellow team members to raise the design bar.
