About The Position

Doncasters is seeking an experienced Senior Product Engineer with expertise in Casting to join their team at Doncasters Precision Castings-New England in Groton, CT. This role involves managing projects from quote to sales, leading new work introductions, and contributing to continuous improvement. The engineer will apply high-level technical knowledge in metallurgy, process, and manufacturing engineering to define processes for superalloy investment castings for aerospace and other high-standard customer specifications. A proactive approach to interpreting data and implementing efficient manufacturing processes is essential. The role requires a focus on safety, quality, and exceeding customer and supplier expectations, including supporting fabrications with exotic metals by reading complex engineering drawings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, or Manufacturing Engineering.
  • Extensive experience in Investment Casting
  • A minimum of 10 years of manufacturing industry experience.
  • Six Sigma green belt and/or black belt
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Nice To Haves

  • Aerospace industry experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of investment casting process and manufacturing methods, techniques, Statistical Process Control, and equipment.
  • Knowledge of 3 or 5-axis CNC manufacturing, with a clear understanding of conventional metal removal, forming and joining preferred.
  • Knowledge of Solid Model/ CAD using auto-desk inventor software preferred.
  • Degree in Manufacturing Technology discipline preferred.
  • Six Sigma Black Belt preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage projects from quote through to sales.
  • Lead the introduction of new work.
  • Contribute innovative ideas to continuous improvement.
  • Define the processes and techniques required for the economical development of superalloy investment castings to specific aerospace and other high standard customer specifications.
  • Apply a pro-active and experienced approach to interpret available data and implement a series of actions to bring about an efficient manufacturing process.
  • Establish and maintain customer deliverables.
  • Ensure safety and quality considerations are paramount at all times.
  • Read complex engineering drawings.
  • Support fabrications with exotic metals on site.
  • Ensure that customers and suppliers expectations are exceeded.
