Senior Product Designer

EchoStar•Centennial, CO

About The Position

The Senior Product Designer leads design for complex digital and AI initiatives and shapes product strategy in partnership with Product Managers, Engineering, and leadership. The role advocates for design across the extended team and mentors junior and mid-level designers to help raise the team’s design maturity. The designer leads work from discovery and concept through launch and post-launch iteration, and governs scalable design-system components and interaction patterns—including AI patterns—across websites, apps, and business units. The role defines how AI features communicate confidence, limitations, and sources, and partners with product, engineering, AI, and data teams to shape model behavior, failure modes, and human-in-the-loop experiences from the user’s perspective. The role also leads research, usability studies, and output evaluations to inform product strategy and responsible AI standards for accessibility, transparency, and data privacy. The position requires participation in at least one in-person interview. Visa sponsorship is not available. Candidates must complete a pre-employment screen, which may include a drug test and DMV check.

Requirements

  • At least 4 years of total Digital Product Design experience.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Interaction Design, Graphic Design, Cognitive Psychology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Working knowledge of modern web and app platforms and of Generative AI, LLMs, RAG, and agentic workflows, including how they shape interaction design decisions.
  • Ability to design accessible digital experiences and trust, transparency, and human-in-the-loop patterns for non-deterministic systems with varying outputs.
  • Expertise with Figma and design systems, including variables, collections, and component governance.
  • Proficiency combining qualitative research with telemetry such as conversion, adoption, correction rates, and task success to evaluate digital and AI experiences.
  • Strong storytelling skills to translate user needs and model limitations into clear terms for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Critical experience designing production-grade digital, AI/ML, or automation products from discovery through launch while mentoring junior designers.
  • Experience leading design systems or design operations at an organizational level.
  • Familiarity with AI governance, accessibility regulations, and data privacy standards.
  • Willingness to participate in at least one in-person interview.
  • Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment screen, which may include a drug test and DMV check.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Product Managers, Engineers, AI Engineers, and Data Scientists to shape acceptable model behavior, failure modes, and human-in-the-loop patterns from the user’s perspective.
  • Lead advanced research, usability studies, and output evaluations that inform product strategy, guardrails, and responsible AI standards for accessibility, transparency, and data privacy.
  • Mentor junior and mid-level designers, resolve friction between design and engineering, and contribute to shared design playbooks.
  • Partner with Product Managers to align design strategy with business goals and lead design projects from planning through delivery.
  • Lead design thinking workshops and integrate design into agile sprints and engineering handoffs.
