About The Position

Zen Educate is seeking a Senior Product Designer to help build its product at the intersection of service, system, and interface design. Design at Zen is evolving into an end-to-end product-building discipline: designers frame problems, create flows and prototypes, and help bring solutions into working, shipped product. The role is suited to someone who cares about users, clarity, and craft and is motivated to take ideas beyond design into real product experiences. The designer will work across the full product lifecycle, from discovery through delivery, partnering with educators, schools, internal teams, product managers, and engineers. Zen's platform helps educators find meaningful work, helps schools manage short- and long-term staffing needs, and supports internal teams in matching supply and demand. The company is established in the UK and growing in the US, with complex design challenges across workflows, systems, and experiences. The role involves close customer research, synthesis, rapid prototyping and validation, iterative shipping, and continued learning from product usage. Designers are expected to increasingly contribute to implementation and to help shape how design works at Zen. The team is small, collaborative, mission-led, and operates with high ownership, lean processes, and a bias toward shipping and iterating.

Responsibilities

  • Own problems end-to-end, from discovery through to shipped product.
  • Design simple, scalable, high-quality flows, systems, and interfaces.
  • Build a deep understanding of educators, schools, and internal teams and their day-to-day work.
  • Contribute to ongoing research through interviews, observation, data, and real product usage.
  • Shape problems, validate direction, and inform what gets built.
  • Create fast feedback loops by testing ideas through prototypes, conversations, and live experiments.
  • Prototype and validate ideas quickly using modern tools, including AI-assisted tools.
  • Explore interaction, logic, and behavior in real environments beyond static designs.
  • Collaborate with engineers and product managers, increasingly contributing directly to implementation.
  • Use judgment to balance speed and quality, shipping early and iterating often.
  • Synthesize and share learning to build shared understanding across the team.
  • Mentor other designers and help raise the bar across the team.
  • Help shape design practices and the evolving design system at Zen.
