Product Engineer (Remote - US CT/ET)

Zen Educate•Chicago, IL
•$130,000 - $190,000•Remote

About The Position

Zen Educate is hiring a Product Engineer to help develop its education staffing platform as the company grows in the US. The platform supports internal operations teams in filling roles, educators in finding work through a mobile app, and schools in hiring educators for short- and long-term positions. The role is particularly suited to an engineer who can build relationships quickly, take ownership of problems end to end, and help grow the US team. Product Engineers work in small, dynamic teams and contribute across the product based on their strengths and interests. The team values real-world outcomes and shared learning, product thinking, quick iteration, sustainable teamwork, curiosity, adaptability, and proactive problem-solving. Engineers are expected to help shape problems, collaborate with Product Managers and Designers, and contribute to missions that advance business outcomes—not simply deliver assigned tickets. The core technology includes Ruby on Rails, React, and React Native, with services including Heroku and Cloudflare. The company ships regularly and is investing in smaller, faster iterations. The engineering team is distributed, so effective communication and asynchronous collaboration are important. The role is remote in US Central or Eastern time zones, with the option to work from an office. Compensation is location-dependent. The stated general salary range across levels is $130,000–$190,000. Full-time benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance from day one; a 401(k) retirement plan with no match after six months; 20 paid vacation days; 10 paid company holidays; sick leave at or above local requirements; and equity compensation. Pay is bi-weekly.
