About The Position

Fathom is seeking an experienced Senior Precision Machinist to independently set up, operate, troubleshoot, and improve CNC machining processes. The role involves producing complex, precision-machined components for demanding industries, including Aerospace & Defense, where quality, accuracy, and craftsmanship are critical. The machinist will also serve as a technical resource for the team and mentor less experienced machinists. Requirements

• At least 7 years of CNC machining experience.
• Advanced setup and troubleshooting skills.
• Strong blueprint-reading and GD&T knowledge.
• Experience with precision measuring equipment.
• Ability to independently run complex jobs with minimal supervision.
• Pride in producing quality work the first time.

Nice To Haves

• Experience working in the Aerospace & Defense industry.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC mills and/or lathes.
• Machine complex parts to tight tolerances.
• Read blueprints, GD&T, and engineering drawings.
• Troubleshoot machining and quality issues.
• Optimize tooling, setups, and cycle times.
• Support process improvements and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Mentor less experienced machinists.
