Senior Platform Software Engineer (OCI - Developer Platform)

Oracle•Nashville, TN
•$92,500 - $209,500

About The Position

The Senior Platform Software Engineer will work on Oracle’s Confident Commits program, which is developing testing services, frameworks, platforms, and infrastructure to help engineers validate changes quickly, confidently, and consistently before production. The team aims to make testing frictionless, capture and analyze results across execution environments, and ensure code changes are validated before deployment. The role involves designing, developing, testing, and operating reliable services and infrastructure for the platform. The engineer will build capabilities to simplify testing and integrate it across development environments, capture and surface test results consistently, and improve developer productivity by reducing friction and feedback times. The position also supports Oracle’s AI Enablement strategy by scaling testing and validation infrastructure for greater volumes of code changes and automated change generation. The engineer will collaborate with senior engineers, SDMs, product stakeholders, and internal developer teams, and will own work from design clarification through implementation, validation, rollout, and operational follow-up. The role includes troubleshooting issues, writing maintainable and well-tested code, participating in reviews and planning, using operational data to improve reliability and developer feedback, and participating in on-call and incident response as appropriate. Work involves collaboration with geographically distributed teams across the US and IDC.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5+ years of professional software development experience delivering production-quality distributed systems, platform services, or developer tools.
  • Strong programming skills in one or more modern languages such as Java, Go, C++, C#, Python, or similar.
  • Experience designing APIs, data models, and service architectures with attention to scalability, availability, security, and operability.
  • Solid understanding of cloud-native systems, including containers, orchestration, CI/CD, infrastructure automation, or release engineering concepts.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive work from problem definition through design, implementation, launch, and ongoing operation.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills and ability to collaborate across engineering disciplines.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with application deployment platforms, continuous delivery, GitOps, artifact management, or developer platform engineering.
  • Experience with large-scale distributed systems, multi-tenant cloud services, control planes, or workflow orchestration.
  • Experience with site reliability engineering, production incident response, observability, or capacity and performance engineering.
  • Experience with security engineering, identity and access management, policy-as-code, supply-chain security, or compliance automation.
  • Experience with AI-assisted developer tools, agentic workflows, or safety controls for autonomous or semi-autonomous systems.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and operate reliable services, frameworks, and infrastructure for the Confident Commits platform.
  • Build capabilities that make testing easier to run, understand, and integrate across development and execution environments.
  • Implement features to capture, normalize, store, and surface test results consistently across pipelines, local development, CI/CD systems, and other supported environments.
  • Reduce testing friction and shorten feedback cycles so engineers can validate code changes before deployment.
  • Help scale testing and validation infrastructure in support of Oracle’s AI Enablement strategy and increased volumes of code changes and automated change generation.
  • Partner with senior engineers, SDMs, product stakeholders, and internal developer teams to clarify requirements, break down work, and deliver engineering tasks.
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve production and pre-production issues in testing services and infrastructure.
  • Write maintainable, well-tested code with clear documentation, operational readiness, and measurable quality improvements.
  • Participate in code reviews, design discussions, operational reviews, and team planning.
  • Own module-level work items from design clarification through implementation, validation, rollout, and operational follow-up.
  • Use data and operational signals to identify testing bottlenecks, flaky behavior, reliability gaps, and opportunities to improve developer feedback cycles.
  • Communicate progress, risks, blockers, and tradeoffs clearly to the team, SDM, and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with geographically distributed teams across the US and IDC.
  • Learn and apply team architecture, service ownership practices, CI/CD patterns, testing frameworks, and operational processes.
  • Participate in on-call, incident response, and operational health reviews as appropriate.
