About The Position

Docplanner is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer based in Türkiye to own the infrastructure behind its Turkish products. The role focuses on running production Kubernetes workloads on AWS, migrating relational databases from RDS to databases running on EKS, and operating PHP, .NET, and Node.js applications. The engineer will serve as the platform reference for data residency, encryption, and audit evidence during Ministry of Health certification, working with Practice Adoption engineers, the local compliance team, and the global Core Platform team. The role's central mission is to provide DoktorTakvimi, Doctoralia Practice, and the telehealth product with a platform compliant with the Ministry of Health, ensuring patient data is stored and processed in Türkiye while maintaining the reliability and cost profile of the global platform. The first major project is to plan and execute a migration of relational databases from RDS to databases on EKS, including replication, tested cutover and rollback, backups, point-in-time recovery to S3, and monitoring. The engineer will then help move the remaining applications, data plane, and related services to the Turkish platform and operate the platform supporting certification requirements. The position owns EKS cluster operations, including node lifecycle, upgrades, autoscaling, resource policies, networking, deployment, and observability. It also covers GitOps delivery, database operations, application availability, compliance evidence, infrastructure automation, and cost awareness. The role is remote within Türkiye.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience operating production infrastructure.
  • Strong practical Kubernetes experience, including running stateless and stateful workloads in production and understanding the effects of cluster changes.
  • Experience running at least one real Kubernetes operator in production.
  • In-depth AWS experience, particularly EKS, networking, storage, identity, multi-AZ design, and cost awareness, or similar cloud experience.
  • Experience with workload and cluster autoscaling, such as KEDA or Karpenter.
  • Experience with GitOps, such as Argo CD or Flux, and deployment strategies.
  • Networking experience covering services, ingress, network policies, and cross-cluster communication.
  • Observability experience with Datadog, Prometheus, and Grafana, including SLOs, actionable alerts, and application and database monitoring.
  • Practical security experience with encryption in transit and at rest, secrets management, and privileged access to clusters and databases.
  • Comfort with relational databases and responsibility for operating the platform beneath them.
  • Daily use of AI coding tools such as Cursor or Claude Code, with ownership of every line and manifest shipped.
  • Professional English at B2 level or above.
  • Native Turkish.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience running relational databases on Kubernetes through an operator and migrating databases between platforms.
  • Disaster recovery design experience, including RPO and RTO, backup verification, and restore drills.
  • Experience supplying infrastructure evidence for an ISO 27001, SOC 2, or health-sector audit.
  • Experience with data residency constraints and AWS Local Zones.
  • Experience with telehealth media infrastructure such as WebRTC, TURN, and SFU scaling.
  • Prior contact with Turkish regulators or Ministry systems.

Responsibilities

  • Run the Kubernetes platform for Turkish products, including node lifecycle, upgrades, autoscaling with HPA, KEDA, or Karpenter, and resource policies.
  • Lead the migration of relational databases from RDS to databases on EKS, including operator selection, replication, cutover, rollback, backups, and point-in-time recovery.
  • Own platform compliance evidence relating to data residency, encryption, secrets, privileged access, backups, and Ministry audit artefacts.
  • Keep PHP, .NET, and Node.js workloads highly available through zero-downtime deployments, database-safe releases, graceful shutdown, and appropriately sized scaling.
  • Own GitOps delivery with Argo CD, including repository structure, deployment strategies, and environment promotion.
  • Design and debug networking, including ingress, cross-cluster and cross-VPC communication, and controlled egress to Ministry systems.
  • Build observability with Datadog, including SLOs, actionable alerts, APM, database monitoring, and audit-grade logging.
  • Operate migrated databases, including failover, upgrades, storage performance, capacity, and incident response.
  • Automate infrastructure and keep the platform cost-aware.
  • Work with Practice Adoption engineers, the local compliance team, and the global Core Platform team.
  • Help move the remaining applications, data plane, and related services to the Turkish platform.
