About The Position

Under the general direction of the Clinic Manager, the Senior Patient Care Coordinator documents and implements policies and procedures for coordinating incoming referrals. The position serves as a resource to providers and staff regarding referral requirements and confirms whether services require prior authorization. It is a first line of communication with physicians, clinical staff, and office staff. The role receives pertinent referral information and forwards requests to insurance plans through electronic mediums such as fax, web-based applications, and telephone. It reviews referrals for required elements and refers them to appropriate staff. Working under the general direction of a physician or designee, the coordinator uses communication and management skills to coordinate seamless care delivery in surgical or non-surgical settings. The position also advocates for patients to help ensure access to health care as they enter and move through clinic services.

Requirements

4 years of experience in a medical or healthcare setting.
2 years of experience providing a high level of customer service in a fast-paced environment, including handling confidential data with discretion.
Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
