About The Position

Illumina is seeking a highly motivated and talented experimental and computational scientist to lead high-throughput genome-wide perturb-seq experiments. The goal is to discover new biological pathways and validate targets identified from human genetics. This role is part of a multidisciplinary team focused on a human genetics-first approach to target discovery, involving experimental scientists, statistical geneticists, and deep learning engineers. The successful candidate will design, plan, and execute experiments, provide technical mentorship, and pursue novel approaches to study various disease indications using high throughput functional genomics strategies. The focus is on identifying and validating therapeutic targets and next-generation biomarkers.

Requirements

Ph.D in cell biology, molecular biology, bioengineering, or similar degree with at least 4+ years of experience.
Extensive expertise with experimental and computational biology techniques, with particular emphasis on development and analysis of high-throughput sequencing assays, single cell sequencing, CRISPR, cell culture and IPSC models, target identification, and target validation.
Strong record of technical proficiency, innovation, and scientific rigor as demonstrated by publication in high-quality scientific journals.

Responsibilities

Build the team and laboratory infrastructure for running high-throughput sequencing experiments for target identification and validation.
Design, develop and validate quantitative cellular assays to credential novel targets.
Work closely with academic and clinical collaborators to integrate innovative biology with data from large-scale human genetics and high throughput sequencing assays to develop new target hypotheses.
Present results at scientific meetings and publish in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
