About The Position

MacDonald-Miller Facility Solutions is seeking a Senior Operations Technology Specialist to design, develop, maintain, and optimize technology systems supporting construction operations from Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) through fabrication and field installation. The role combines software engineering, solution architecture, construction technology, and technical leadership. The specialist will evaluate operational challenges, make technology decisions, build sustainable software, and mentor developers while working with VDC, Fabrication, Field Operations, Engineering, Estimating, IT, and software vendors to reduce manual work, improve data quality, and connect systems across the project lifecycle. During the first year, the specialist will establish a sustainable technical strategy; deliver reliable production software; advance Autodesk and fabrication automation; improve integrations among Autodesk platforms, Stratus, fabrication systems, Trimble, Azure services, Power Platform, and internal business applications; strengthen development and release practices; and build technical capability across the team. Work includes custom Revit add-ins, Autodesk Fabrication integrations, COD scripts, database customizations, APIs, internal tools, model-data workflows, deployment pipelines, documentation, and training. The position reports directly to the Detailing Superintendent. It is a high-impact, high-visibility role working across departments and organizational levels to improve construction technology, project delivery, and operational performance, including healthcare-related projects and initiatives. The role is based at the company’s Kent, Washington office.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience delivering and supporting production software using C#, .NET, object-oriented design, software architecture and design patterns, REST APIs, SQL Server, data modeling, and Git.
  • Proficiency with WPF, MVVM, dependency injection, and desktop application deployment.
  • Experience with the Revit API, add-in architecture, and multi-version development.
  • Ability to connect applications and platforms using well-defined interfaces and reliable data flows.
  • Experience guiding developers and contractors through architecture decisions, code reviews, troubleshooting, and project planning while establishing practical engineering standards.
  • Ability to solve problems practically, identify root causes, and deliver reliable solutions with minimal disruption to operations.
  • Clear, proactive communication, including the ability to translate technical concepts into useful guidance for developers, business partners, and end users.
  • Ability to collaborate across disciplines, listen to the people doing the work, and align technology decisions with project and business needs.
  • Strategic thinking, including recognizing dependencies, evaluating tradeoffs, and choosing scalable solutions over short-term fixes that create maintenance burdens.
  • Ability to evaluate emerging technologies and lead changes that produce measurable operational improvements.
  • Ability to take ownership through implementation, documentation, training, and ongoing support.
  • Initiative and ability to learn independently and move solutions forward.
  • Ability to translate Shop, Field, and Detailing needs into workable solutions; candidates without construction-industry experience must demonstrate the ability to learn the environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Autodesk Fabrication APIs, CADmep, ESTmep, CAMduct, fabrication database administration, and COD scripting.
  • Experience administering, configuring, or integrating Stratus, AutoCAD, Revit, Autodesk Fabrication, and REJ; direct experience connecting these tools across multiple trades is especially valuable.
  • Experience with Azure services, Power Platform, monitoring, telemetry, and operational support.
  • Experience managing Azure DevOps repositories and CI/CD pipelines for desktop applications, Revit add-ins, services, and supporting tools.
  • Construction, mechanical-contracting, VDC, fabrication, or field experience is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assess existing systems, prioritize improvements, and define architectural standards that balance operational needs with maintainability, flexibility, and total cost of ownership.
  • Evaluate whether operational needs are best addressed through custom development, configuration changes, process improvements, or vendor solutions, while avoiding unnecessary vendor lock-in.
  • Lead the design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance of custom applications, services, APIs, and internal tools.
  • Translate operational needs into clear requirements, implementation plans, and ongoing support models.
  • Develop custom Revit add-ins that support multiple Revit versions and evolving .NET requirements.
  • Create and maintain Autodesk Fabrication integrations, COD scripts, and database customizations supporting detailing across trades and the Sheet Metal Fabrication Shop.
  • Improve integrations among Autodesk platforms, Stratus, fabrication systems, Trimble, Azure services, Power Platform, and internal business applications.
  • Advance model-to-Watts, model-to-Spiral, model-to-BOM, and model-to-PowerApps workflows, including data validation, synchronization, error handling, monitoring, and recovery procedures.
  • Improve Azure DevOps repositories, branching strategies, automated testing, build and release pipelines, and deployment workflows.
  • Establish consistent code reviews, version management, and monitoring to improve software quality and release reliability.
  • Mentor developers and contractors; resolve complex issues spanning VDC and operational systems; and create documentation and training resources for Field, Shop, and Detailing teams.
  • Support construction technology, project delivery, and operational performance across departments and organizational levels.

Benefits

  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage for employees, with dependent coverage available for a shared premium.
  • 401(k) retirement plan with company matching.
  • Vacation and sick compensation (PTO).
  • Holiday pay.
  • Short- and long-term disability income protection.
  • Employee and dependent life insurance.
  • Wellness program.
