About The Position

Payments Canada is seeking a Senior Operations Analyst to join their team. This role is crucial for ensuring the smooth operation of the Canadian payment ecosystem, focusing on making payments easier, smarter, and safer for all Canadians. The organization plays a vital role in clearing and settling financial transactions, processing trillions of dollars daily. The Senior Operations Analyst will be an important subject matter expert on RTR (Real-Time Rail) operations and participant services, providing analysis and recommendations, and mentoring team members. The role reports to the Manager, RTR Participant Services.

Requirements

  • An MBA or related Master's Degree and technical experience in the financial industry OR five (5)+ years of experience working directly with payments systems.
  • Must demonstrate experience in payment operations and payment system onboarding, documentation management, process engineering, and change management.
  • Experience working with complex systems and processes.
  • Strong organizational skills with a continuous improvement perspective.
  • Experience in building strong effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain appropriate, company specified security clearances, including successfully completing enhanced background checks that may be carried out by Payments Canada.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in the financial industry including with payment processing systems is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Leading and executing operational processes relating to the RTR ecosystem lifecycle, including onboarding, change management, suspension and offboarding of participants and other entities.
  • Leading the analysis of the business needs of members and stakeholders, assessing potential solutions to identified issues and identifying opportunities for added value or improvement.
  • Maintaining and authoring participant documentation, keeping it up to date in the face of regular change.
  • Supporting the compliance function through active monitoring and reporting on RTR participant metrics.
  • Planning and leading change in response to participant service requests, including coordination with RTR operate partners.
  • Monitoring and coordinating responses to RTR inquiries from participants and other stakeholders as well as the general public.
  • Acting as a subject matter expert on RTR operations and participant services for internal planning, change management, rules, policy and roadmap discussions.
  • Supporting the new participant funnel by acting as an onboarding subject matter expert in calls with new prospects led by Industry Relations.
  • Managing assigned internal or external RTR committees, including agendas, development of meeting materials, scheduling and communication.
  • Leading industry participation, planning and execution of regular testing exercises such as business continuity, disaster recovery and suspension exercises.
  • Maintaining positive relationships with participants to aid in identifying participant pain points, opportunities to improve RTR processes and systems, new product features, issues and risks to the safety and soundness of the RTR system.
