About The Position

CMTA, a Legence company, is seeking an experienced Senior Engineer to join its rapidly growing Energy Solutions division. This role involves leading all aspects of performance contracts for clients, from initial concept through completion, acting as the main point of contact throughout the process. The position requires strong technical leadership, business development skills, client relationship management, and the ability to contribute to CMTA's overall business growth. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated individual with a technical background in HVAC design and commissioning, capable of leading and being involved in all phases of client projects. While this position is within the performance contracting division, a background in HVAC design and commissioning is easily transferable to the Energy Solutions group.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience with an Energy Services company OR a consulting engineering/commissioning firm.
  • Must have undergrad degree in engineering from ABET accredited university.
  • Current work authorization in the U.S.; visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Introduce and explain performance contracting to potential clients, identifying opportunities where CMTA’s solutions can provide long-term value.
  • Articulate how and why CMTA is unique in our approach to performance contracting, reinforcing our value proposition in both technical and financial terms.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships to foster repeat business, referrals, and long-term partnerships.
  • Participate in business development efforts including client meetings, industry events, and proposal development.
  • Lead the development phase including site visits, audits, and energy calculations.
  • Direct the engineering design team in producing drawings and specifications.
  • Direct the bidding process to ensure quality and competitive outcomes.
  • Collaborate with the client to finalize the performance contract.
  • Work with the construction manager to ensure a smooth construction period.
  • Direct the commissioning process to validate performance.
  • Support the client through the warranty phase as needed.
  • Work with our Measurement & Verification (M&V) professional to develop the first-year M&V report.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of state specific K-12 design-build procurement processes, ensuring alignment with state and district requirements.
