About The Position

The Senior Manager, Retail Pharmacy, (a non‑demand generating position), takes a holistic, long‑term view of strategic partnerships with prioritized retail pharmacy chains, banners, and distributors. The role is accountable for collaborating on core partnership discussions and agreements that address shared healthcare priorities and enable the availability, access, and optimal use of Pfizer medicines and vaccines through compliant, above‑brand initiatives. The incumbent will report to the Director, Pharmacy & Strategic Partnerships and will seek opportunities for synergy and collaboration to achieve both Pfizer and Retail Pharmacy customer goals through active and transparent strategic planning. The successful candidate will partner with senior pharmacy and distribution leadership to develop innovative enterprise‑level agreements, strategic frameworks, and partnerships that support retail access and care delivery. Success in this role is driven by customer centricity, collaboration, and a strong understanding of pharmacy practice evolution, distribution and wholesaling models, contracting dynamics, and the broader healthcare system.

Requirements

  • Relevant University Degree in Business Administration (MBA or equivalent advanced business), Health Sciences, Pharmacy or a related discipline
  • Strong negotiation, governance, and executive communication skills including extensive experience in one or more of: Pharmacy partnerships Trade / contracting Market access or customer strategy
  • High level of business and financial acumen
  • Deep knowledge of: Canadian retail pharmacy ecosystem Public and private payer environments Provincial healthcare system variation
  • Experience across vaccines or primary care, with exposure to pharmacist‑led care delivery models and established senior‑level pharmacy relationships preferred
  • Proven success leading complex, national, multi‑stakeholder initiatives
  • Established network of key stakeholders influencing pharmacy or wholesaler channel strategy is an asset
  • Superior customer and partnership management skills and competencies
  • Highly developed communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Expertise with writing and implementing business and account plans
  • Demonstrated strategic planning abilities with a strong understanding of healthcare and pharmacy system optimization
  • Independent, self‑starter with a proven ability to work in a cross‑functional team environment
  • Ability to quickly engage senior stakeholders with the goal of becoming a trusted advisor

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, negotiation, and governance of key retail pharmacy partnerships across the Canadian portfolio, including: Major national and regional pharmacy chains & banners Buying groups, wholesaler‑aligned networks, and banner associations
  • Define agreement frameworks that align with a One Pfizer mindset across portfolio therapeutic areas & Vaccine priorities, including Commercial terms (where applicable)
  • Support the development & integration of standardized frameworks that support pharmacy‑led workflows and optimization of consumer/patient care enablement models
  • Serve as a trusted strategic advisor to senior pharmacy and distribution executives by aligning Pfizer’s enterprise capabilities with partner priorities through formalized partnership models and agreements
  • Act as the single enterprise point of accountability for national pharmacy agreements.
  • Lead the account and partnership management process, including strategic planning, governance, project management, and execution across assigned Chain & Banner and Distributor partners
  • Lead insight gathering related to access, reimbursement, distribution economics, and channel dynamics that inform B2B strategy and agreement design, and refer insights to appropriate cross‑functional colleagues
  • Translate national & regional agreements into clear, actionable execution models for sales and account teams & key cross-functional stakeholders; Elevate stakeholder connectivity to enable learning, best practice sharing, and scalable implementation across Chains, Banners, and Distributors
  • Analyze account and partnership performance, track contractual commitments, and evolve action plans to optimize healthcare outcomes and partnership value
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional Pfizer partners (Legal, Compliance, Medical, Market Access, Operations, Customer Solutions) to ensure B2B agreements are compliant, scalable, and operationally sound
  • Identify and report adverse events and product complaint reports as per Corporate requirements, including Your Reporting Responsibilities (YRR) training
