•$164,000 - $245,000•Remote

About The Position

Affirm is hiring a Senior Manager, Policy & Communications Campaigns to help shape public understanding of consumer-friendly credit and distinguish Affirm’s pay-over-time model from revolving credit cards and other products. The role focuses on the reporters, writers, policymakers, advocates, and other influential voices who shape conversations about consumer finance and policy. The successful candidate will develop and run campaigns that build a persuasive argument over time, influence coverage and public language, and help establish what consumer-friendly credit can and should be. The role works across Brand & Communications and partners closely with Public Affairs and Government Relations, as well as colleagues responsible for narrative, research, and communications to consumers, merchants, and investors. The position is remote-first but requires the candidate to be based in the New York City or Washington, DC area, or to relocate to one of those areas before starting, with regular time spent in the other city.

Requirements

  • Established relationships across policy, business, and technology media.
  • A track record of running complex press strategies end to end, including in complicated or sensitive situations.

  • Ability to develop proactive, sustained campaigns and persist with promising ideas.
  • Ability to learn complex topics such as underwriting, disclosure, and the credit system and explain them in plain language.
  • Strong persuasive writing skills, with the ability to make clear, accurate, convincing arguments for skeptical audiences.
  • Sound judgment and steadiness in high-stakes, high-visibility situations, and the ability to act quickly without putting trust at risk.
  • Ability to build effective partnerships across Communications, Brand, Public Affairs, Legal, and Marketing.
  • Belief that transparency and accountability can be brand advantages.

Responsibilities

  • Develop campaign strategy, determine the audiences and ideas to influence, sequence activity, identify key moments, and move the argument into language others use independently.
  • Shape news conversations by engaging with people who decide what is covered and what counts as news, integrating Affirm into those conversations proactively.
  • Help develop original consumer research and third-party data into credible evidence that external audiences can use to make the argument accurately and persuasively.
  • Build trusted relationships with reporters, columnists, editors, producers, podcasters, and independent writers covering consumer finance and policy.
  • Partner with Public Affairs and Government Relations to build lasting relationships with consumer advocates, academics, and credit experts, and design dinners, briefings, and roundtables.
  • Prepare executives and external spokespeople for op-eds, panels, interviews, and other important opportunities to communicate Affirm’s perspective.
  • Work with Public Affairs to bring relevant arguments and themes to policymakers, regulators, and their advisers.
  • Track whether campaigns are influencing media framing, the language used by advocates and policymakers, and earned sentiment; report candidly on results.

  • Dental and vision coverage for employees and their dependents.
  • Monthly stipends for technology, health, and wellness spending.
  • Flexible time off and generous holiday calendars.
