About The Position

MaxLinear is seeking a Senior Manager or Director of RF/Mixed-Signal Design to lead and grow its design team in Irvine and Carlsbad. The team develops IP for 200G and 400G data center SERDES applications, including DSPs, drivers, and TIAs. The role partners with senior technical leads on design and architecture decisions and is accountable for execution from concept through tape-out and production release. It also works cross-functionally with Systems, Digital, CAD, and Technology teams, and with customers from development through production release. The successful candidate will bring extensive analog/mixed-signal or RF IC design experience in advanced CMOS, a record of tape-outs and productization, and experience growing engineering teams. The position may be filled at the Senior Manager or Director level. MaxLinear describes its compensation as base salary plus eligibility for an annual discretionary bonus; some positions also include stock-based compensation. The stated good-faith starting base salary ranges are $222,000–$272,000 annually for Senior Manager and $195,000–$259,000 annually for Director. The company notes that the actual starting salary depends on role-related criteria, including education, experience, skills, and location.

Requirements

Extensive analog/mixed-signal or RF IC design experience in advanced CMOS.
A proven record of tape-out and productization.
A proven record of growing engineering teams, including hiring senior talent.
Strong communication and executive presentation skills.
Customer-facing experience.
For Senior Manager: a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field plus 11 years of experience, or a master's degree plus 9 years of experience, or a Ph.D. plus 6 years of experience.
For Director: a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field plus 13 years of experience, or a master's degree plus 11 years of experience, or a Ph.D. plus 8 years of experience.

Responsibilities

Lead, develop, and grow the RF/Mixed-Signal Design team in Irvine and Carlsbad, which develops IP for 200G and 400G data center SERDES applications, including DSPs, drivers, and TIAs.
Work closely with senior technical leads and participate in design and architecture selection.
Develop team members through coaching, performance management, and career growth.
Own execution from concept through tape-out and production release, including schedules, staffing, risk, and delivery.
Establish design-review and tape-out readiness standards for quality and manufacturability.
Work with Systems, Digital, CAD, and Technology teams to improve design flows and methodology.
Work with customers from development through release to production.
Represent the team in executive technical and business reviews.
