RF/Mixed-Signal Design Leadership
About The Position
MaxLinear is seeking a Senior Manager or Director of RF/Mixed-Signal Design to lead and grow its RF/Mixed-Signal Design team in Irvine and Carlsbad. The team develops IPs for 200G and 400G data center SERDES applications, including DSPs, Drivers, and TIAs. The role works closely with senior technical leads on design and architecture selection and is responsible for team development, execution, and delivery from concept through tape-out and production release. The position establishes design-review and tape-out readiness standards for quality and manufacturability, collaborates with Systems, Digital, CAD, and Technology teams to improve design flows and methodology, and works with customers from development through production release. It also represents the team in executive technical and business reviews.
Requirements
- Extensive analog/mixed-signal or RF IC design experience in advanced CMOS, with a proven tape-out and productization record.
- Proven record of growing engineering teams, including hiring senior talent.
- Strong communication and executive presentation skills and customer-facing experience.
- For Senior Manager: BS in Electrical Engineering or related field plus 11 years of experience, or MS plus 9 years of experience, or Ph.D. plus 6 years of experience.
- For Director: BS in Electrical Engineering or related field plus 13 years of experience, or MS plus 11 years of experience, or Ph.D. plus 8 years of experience.
Responsibilities
- Lead, develop, and grow the RF/Mixed-Signal Design team in Irvine and Carlsbad developing IPs for 200G and 400G data center SERDES applications, including DSPs, Drivers, and TIAs.
- Work closely with senior technical leads and participate in design and architecture selection.
- Develop the team through coaching, performance management, and career growth.
- Own execution from concept through tape-out and production release, including schedules, staffing, risk, and delivery.
- Set design-review and tape-out readiness standards for quality and manufacturability.
- Work with Systems, Digital, CAD, and Technology teams to improve design flows and methodology.
- Work with customers from development through release to production.
- Represent the team in executive technical and business reviews.
