About The Position

We are seeking an experienced, collaborative, and highly organized individual to fill the role of Senior Manager, High Performance Programs. This role will ensure athletes, coaches, and other key groups are supported through world-class logistical, administrative, and operational planning. Reporting to the Associate Director, High Performance, Paralympic Program, the Senior Manager, High Performance Programs provides leadership across high performance operations, including High Performance Centre operations, athlete support programs, funding and awards, and logistical delivery for domestic and international competitions and camps.

Requirements

  • Relevant work experience in a related organization, with sound knowledge of the high performance sport environment.
  • Experience leading a team of employees, providing oversight and leadership, supporting day-to-day needs, providing performance feedback, coaching and mentoring while inspiring and motivating the team.
  • Proven ability to manage complex logistics, budgets, and risk in fast-paced international sport environments.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills - ability to influence without direct authority and build effective relationships with all team members, communicate with a range of audiences, including athletes, parents of minors, coaches, staff, and external partners.
  • Highly effective planning and organization skills, excellent attention to detail, with the capability to effectively manage concurrent projects with specific deadlines.
  • Service-minded with troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills, with the ability to work on a variety of projects at a time, and work comfortably in a deadline driven environment.
  • Ability to maintain composure in high-pressure situations.
  • Strong ability to work with One Drive, SharePoint, MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Office 365 etc.) and other programs/platforms.
  • Strong verbal and writing skills in English is required, the ability to communicate verbally and in writing in French would be considered a very strong asset.
  • Post-secondary education in sport management, sport science, business, or related field, or equivalent combination of education/experience.
  • Currently legally eligible to work in Canada.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day management of direct reports, including performance management, mentorship and development.
  • Work proactively and collaboratively to support alignment between Olympic and Paralympic HP program delivery.
  • Lead biweekly High Performance Department meetings, and team meetings as required.
  • Lead communication and partner engagements for all portfolios.
  • Lead process improvement, SOPs, and performance monitoring for all portfolios.
  • Oversee the creation, management and tracking of budgets for all portfolios, and provide input on other departmental and event-related budgets.
  • Oversee the completion of various reporting requirements, such as KPIs, post-event reports, and other reports as needed.
  • Responsible and/or support as required, the completion and submission of funding and other applications, including the Annual Report, and for other department-related initiatives.
  • Collaborate with departments and area leads, as well as externally with key contributors and partners.
  • All other duties as required.
  • Oversee the operational planning and delivery of the three High Performance Centres (HPCs), including agreements, procurement (equipment, clothing), while aligned with supplier relationships and sponsorship agreements.
  • Lead the reward program/prize money program for international events for the Olympic and Paralympic program.
  • Lead the process for external athlete funding opportunities and nominations as approved.
  • Support and enable the work of the Board of Directors’ High Performance Committee, and Selection Committee.
  • Support the development of Olympic and Paralympic Program Selection and Nomination Criteria.
  • Oversee the declaration process for athletes and coaches to the national team.
  • Lead Swimming Canada’s awards programs, ensuring effective promotion, application management and selection support.
  • Lead the development and maintenance of standard operating procedures and operational documents for all portfolios.
  • Oversee the management and delivery of the Athlete Assistance Program (AAP/carding) process with Sport Canada, CAIP Insurance, CAN Fund and Bell Athletes Connect, and other related programs.
  • Oversee the management of compliance with anti-doping requirements, including communication with Sport Integrity Canada, and management of Swimming Canada’s registered testing pool.
  • Lead the development and dissemination of communications to athletes, coaches, staff, on the website, and to other groups as needed, ensuring consistent messaging and timely updates.
  • Oversee the coordination of all logistical arrangements (flights, accommodation, ground transport, equipment, entries, accreditation) for development national activities, including Junior Championships, ensuring effective coordination of schedules and venues.
  • Collaborate with the Manager, Senior National Teams & Centres; Manager, HP Paralympic Program; National Coaches; and HP Associate Directors to coordinate team management assignments for classification tours, junior teams and HP Program camps, consulting on Senior National Team staffing only when direct reports are involved. Lead the placement of logistics staff and ensure smooth handoffs to designated Team Managers, supporting Senior Team planning as required.
  • Work alongside National Coach Leads and HP Associate Directors on planning of activities to determine delivery capacity.
  • Involvement in the strategy, and oversight of the delivery of outfitting for all High Performance programs, including budget and operational management, with operational team support.
  • Liaise with the Marketing team, Manager, Senior Teams and Centres, Manager, High Performance, Paralympic Program and external partners and vendors regarding outfitting requirements, timelines, and branding.
