About The Position

Blue Origin is seeking a Senior Manager of Facilities Design Civil Engineering to build and lead the team responsible for site civil design, master planning, and permitting for the company’s growing Florida operations. The role supports manufacturing and processing campuses, launch and landing infrastructure, roads, utilities, and stormwater systems across Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, Kennedy Space Center, and off-base sites. Site development must be planned, designed, and permitted ahead of facility construction to support the pace of New Glenn and other Florida programs. This is a hands-on technical and people leadership role. The manager will establish civil design standards, review critical work, and hire, develop, and lead site civil engineers and designers. The role partners with architecture, structural, MEP, fire protection, construction, project management, environmental, real estate, and site leadership teams. The position also coordinates with NASA/KSC, the U.S. Space Force, Range authorities, and other permitting agencies. Work takes place in a mix of office and active construction environments, including launch-site areas. Occasional travel to other Blue Origin sites, agencies, vendors, and contractors is required, approximately 10%. Extended hours may be needed to support critical construction and program milestones. Applicants must be eligible to pass a U.S. Air Force/Space Force background check for Cape Canaveral Space Force Station access and must meet Blue Origin’s stated export-control eligibility requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in at least one U.S. state, with ability to obtain Florida licensure.
  • 12+ years of progressive site civil engineering experience, including site design, grading, stormwater, and utilities for industrial, commercial, or infrastructure projects.
  • 5+ years of experience leading engineering teams, including direct people management such as hiring, performance management, and employee development.
  • Demonstrated experience leading site permitting through state, county, and federal agencies, including environmental resource and stormwater permitting.
  • Experience developing site master plans or long-range campus or infrastructure plans.
  • Experience serving as engineer of record and producing sealed civil construction documents.
  • Experience managing outside A/E consultants and multiple concurrent projects to schedule and budget.
  • Working proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and civil design tools.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to brief leadership, agencies, and contractors clearly.
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and strengthen a culture of inclusion.
  • Must be able to pass a U.S. Air Force/Space Force background check for base access at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station.
  • Must meet Blue Origin’s export-control eligibility requirements: U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, or lawfully admitted to the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
  • Must be available to work extended hours as needed to support critical construction and program milestones.
  • Willingness to travel to other Blue Origin sites, agencies, vendors, and contractors as required; travel is occasional, approximately 10%.
