As a Senior Manager Engineering, Insurance Core & Reporting, you will lead and oversee Insurance and Reporting technologies in International Banking ensuring business strategies, plans and initiatives are executed / delivered in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures. This role requires leading and driving a customer-focused culture, managing a team of direct and indirect reports in areas of project scheduling, technical direction, future planning, and standard development practices. The incumbent will also manage department recruitment, identify training requirements, staff retention, and performance. Ensuring proper support procedures and processes for existing production systems and establishing quality improvement activities are key. The role involves functioning independently to meet project objectives and managing assigned project and department budgets. Close collaboration with customers, Business Analysts, and team members is essential for understanding business requirements and driving the analysis and design of quality technical solutions. Meeting scheduled milestones, adhering to the IT Technology Roadmap, and possessing in-depth knowledge of Agile Scrum and Kanban frameworks are crucial. Understanding the Bank's risk appetite and culture is expected. The role is involved in the full systems life cycle, leading teams in designing, coding, testing, implementing, and supporting applications software to ensure timely and within-budget delivery. Providing technical leadership for production and user acceptance testing, application support, and guidance/training to less experienced analysts and programmers are also responsibilities. Creating an environment that promotes effective and efficient operations in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, Code of Conduct, and Global Sales Principles, while ensuring adequate business controls for operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions, and conduct risk is vital.
