Senior Manager / Director, Data & Business Systems

Graza•New York, NY
•$110,000 - $135,000

About The Position

Graza is hiring its first dedicated leader for Data & Business Systems to build the systems, data infrastructure, and processes needed to support the company’s growth across retail, club, direct-to-consumer, and international markets. The role sits at the intersection of data, technology, and business operations, and is not limited to traditional data engineering or IT work. Reporting to the VP of Finance and working directly with the leadership team, this highly visible role will map how information moves across the business, identify manual or disconnected processes, and determine whether to improve processes, better configure existing systems, integrate platforms, automate work, or introduce new tools. The position also owns the evolution of Graza’s Snowflake environment and its use as a reliable foundation for reporting, analytics, and decision-making. The role will manage and develop the existing data analyst, establish practical data and engineering standards, and shape the future team, technology, and capabilities as Graza scales. Success in the first 12–18 months includes mapping major systems and data flows, establishing a target architecture and systems of record, improving Snowflake and business reporting, reducing spreadsheet-dependent work, strengthening metric controls, and prioritizing future integrations and investments.

Requirements

  • At least 6 years of experience across data, analytics engineering, business systems, technology, process improvement, or a combination of these disciplines.
  • Experience building or significantly improving a data platform or business systems environment.
  • Strong SQL skills.
  • Experience with cloud data warehouses, ideally Snowflake.
  • Experience with modern transformation and ingestion tools such as dbt, Fivetran, Airbyte, or equivalent technologies.
  • Understanding of APIs, integrations, data modeling, data quality, and how operational systems fit together.
  • Ability to diagnose discrepancies between systems and determine whether the cause is data, process, integration, or the underlying system.
  • Ability to work with Finance or Operations leaders to understand goals, map processes, and turn findings into better systems.
  • Comfort operating as the most senior technical person in the room while communicating with non-technical leaders.
  • Ability to create a roadmap and work without a large team or a detailed roadmap being provided.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in CPG, retail, DTC, food and beverage, or supply chain.
  • Experience with platforms such as Cin7, Shopify, QuickBooks, Vividly, Parabola, Snowflake, syndicated retail data, retailer portals, EDI, 3PL/WMS systems, or similar tools.

Responsibilities

  • Own the architecture and roadmap for the Snowflake environment, including data models, ingestion and transformation pipelines, and reliable reporting datasets.
  • Build tools and outputs that help the business answer questions without repeatedly recreating analysis in spreadsheets.
  • Map critical business processes and data flows across Finance, Sales, Operations, Supply Chain, and other functions.
  • Identify where data originates, changes, and is owned, and where systems or processes break down.
  • Establish systems of record for customers, products, orders, inventory, revenue, COGS, and other critical business domains.
  • Evaluate the technology landscape and determine where to integrate, configure, replace, consolidate, or build systems.
  • Own the architecture for key integrations between accounting, ERP, e-commerce, inventory, supply chain, logistics, retail, and other platforms.
  • Identify time-consuming manual processes, quantify the problem, redesign workflows, and automate where appropriate.
  • Partner with Finance, Sales, Operations, and Supply Chain to turn business questions into useful data products and reporting.
  • Build reporting for revenue, margin, customers, channels, SKUs, pricing, velocity, inventory, purchasing, production, logistics, and forecasting.
  • Establish definitions, ownership, testing, reconciliation, monitoring, and documentation for critical metrics.
  • Manage and develop the existing data analyst and determine how the team should develop as Graza grows.
  • Establish practical engineering and data standards and decide what to build, buy, or address with outside expertise.
  • Create a roadmap for the people, technology, and capabilities Graza will need as it scales.
