About The Position

Middletown Valley Bank is seeking an experienced mortgage professional to manage complex loan files, ensure compliance with investor and regulatory requirements, and serve as a subject matter expert for the Mortgage Loan Processing team. The Senior Loan Processor provides technical guidance, mentors less experienced team members, and supports escalated or high-risk files. The role partners with underwriting, closing, and management to improve processes, operational efficiency, quality, and the customer experience. The position is eligible for a hybrid or fully remote work schedule after a two-week in-office training period. Candidates must live within a reasonable commuting distance of an MVB office and be available for in-person training, team meetings, and other onsite business activities as needed. The role includes work in office and off-site settings, local-area travel as required, and flexibility to work beyond standard business hours to meet client and business partner needs.

Requirements

High school diploma required.
10+ years of progressive mortgage processing experience, including complex loan products, investor guidelines, regulatory compliance, quality control standards, and escalated loan files.
Expertise in conventional, FHA, VA, USDA, jumbo, construction, and specialty mortgage products.
Demonstrated ability to mentor, train, and provide technical guidance to less experienced processors while serving as a subject matter expert.
Ability to manage high-volume, complex loan pipelines and competing priorities under tight deadlines.
Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with internal and external stakeholders.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Encompass, and other mortgage technology platforms.
Strong organization and attention to detail, with the ability to prioritize effectively.
Adaptability in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
Alignment with MVB's Code of Ethics and values.
Must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of an MVB office and be available to attend in-person training, team meetings, and other onsite business activities as needed.

Nice To Haves

Associate degree in business or a related field.
Mortgage industry certification such as NAMP, AMP, or similar.

Responsibilities

Independently manage a pipeline of high-complexity loans, including jumbo, construction, and specialty programs.
Act as the primary liaison between processing, underwriting, and closing for escalated or time-sensitive files.
Conduct advanced compliance reviews and resolve issues before underwriting submission.
Identify systemic processing risks, recommend corrective actions, and work with leadership to implement process improvements.
Coach, train, and provide technical guidance to processors, supporting their development and consistent application of policies, procedures, and investor guidelines.
Monitor pipeline performance metrics and proactively address processing delays, quality concerns, and exception trends.
Participate in strategic projects to improve operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.
Recommend and implement process enhancements based on regulatory changes, investor updates, and industry best practices.
Serve as a subject matter expert on regulatory requirements, investor guidelines, and complex processing scenarios.
Adhere to internal policies, procedures, and practices supporting risk management, safety and soundness, and regulatory compliance, including CRA, BSA, and the Equal Credit Opportunity Act.
Support and participate in community activities and initiatives.
Perform other duties necessary to meet business objectives.
