The Senior Learning Specialist develops and delivers learning experiences across an assigned area of responsibility, providing subject matter expertise and consultation on training development and facilitation. The role assesses, evaluates, and develops new and existing training programs and materials for internal and external use, and may shift among learning design, content development, facilitation, and consultation based on business needs and expertise. It also delivers foundational internal business-unit training to promote consistent learning and shared ways of working across teams and programs. The specialist creates learning resources for front-line staff and client-facing curricula, including facilitator guides, participant workbooks, job aids, exercises, coaching guides, blended learning solutions, and e-learning modules. Training is delivered in classroom and virtual settings, from onboarding through continued development and refresher training, with the goal of applying learning in everyday work. The role leads learning design and development offerings across the business unit and multiple client programs. The position works with internal clients, IT, business owners, subject matter experts, and other departments to identify learning needs, develop and maintain documentation, test systems, and produce effective training solutions. It may require travel to other UBC or client locations and participation in in-person and virtual meetings and events. No supervisory responsibility is required, though team leadership, influence, and project management are important.
