About the position
The job overview for this position is that MerchantE is seeking Sr. Java Back-End Software Engineers who are passionate about their work and embrace the ideals of the software craftsmanship movement and Agile development practices. The engineers should be self-motivated and able to work independently as well as part of a scrum team. The main responsibilities include driving innovation, translating user stories into functional applications, designing and maintaining application and infrastructure components, and solving complex scalability and integration problems. The ideal candidate should have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, proficiency in Java 8+ and Spring Boot, and at least 8 years of experience in object-oriented programming.
Responsibilities
- Help move the team to idempotent production and continuous delivery
- Be a part of a cross-functional team and continue our charge towards test automation and continuous integration
- Work closely with our team of Product Managers, as well as your own team of developers, QA, and designers
- Drive innovation by coming up with new and surprising ideas for our applications and our processes
- Translate application user stories and use cases into functional applications
- Design, implement, and maintain our application and infrastructure components
- Identify bottlenecks and bugs, and devise and implement solutions to mitigate and address these issues
- Refactor and improve maintainability of the codebase
- Solve complex scalability, platform, and integration problems
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science
- Proficient in Java 8+ and Spring Boot
- 8+ years of experience within an object-oriented programming environment
- Experience with idempotent production and continuous delivery
- Familiarity with test automation and continuous integration
- Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to identify and address bottlenecks and bugs
- Experience in refactoring and improving code maintainability
- Ability to solve complex scalability, platform, and integration problems
