Senior iOS Engineer, Guest & Host
About The Position
The Senior iOS Engineer will join Airbnb’s App Experience & Frameworks team within the App Foundation organization. The team empowers product teams to build high-quality experiences through feature foundations and unified app-wide product frameworks. This role contributes to end-to-end development of product features across guest and host experiences, from prototypes through production launch, in collaboration with Design, Product, Marketing, Data Science, and partner Engineering teams. The engineer will build features and frameworks that improve the app experience for millions of guests and hosts. Work includes horizontal product concerns such as app navigation, announcement scheduling, and frameworks that power required host actions, helping create a more unified customer experience across platforms. The role also supports technical priorities including performance, event logging, and app configuration. Success means shipping reliable, scalable, polished iOS experiences that delight customers and help feature teams build and experiment more quickly. This position is US remote eligible. It may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites, as agreed with the manager. The employee must live in a state where Airbnb, Inc. has a registered entity; eligible states may vary depending on the employing Airbnb entity.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience building production iOS applications at scale.
- Expertise in Swift, SwiftUI, and UIKit.
- Deep understanding of client architecture and UI performance.
- Experience working with backend and other-platform engineers, including Android and web engineers, to integrate APIs and maintain consistent cross-platform experiences.
- Ability to take action in ambiguous situations and independently lead projects from start to finish.
- Strong cross-functional partnership skills.
- Flexibility and resilience when scope, designs, and priorities change.
- Attention to detail and a high bar for polish, accessibility, and quality.

Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Design and Product partners to ideate, prototype, develop, and ship product features and app-wide frameworks.
- Build prototypes to validate ideas while considering long-term technical design and architecture.
- Translate prototypes into high-quality, scalable, maintainable production code through iterative development.
- Partner with peer engineering teams to integrate features affecting different areas of the product.
- Optimize the team’s frameworks based on developer feedback.
- Troubleshoot and resolve bugs, accessibility issues, and globalization issues affecting the iOS app.
- Lead projects independently from start to finish and contribute to a unified customer experience across platforms.
