About The Position

This position supports radiologists in the reading room by maintaining working knowledge of EPIC, PACS, PowerShare, AMBRA, and the process of uploading CDs from outside imaging facilities. It also includes the ability to create CDs for distribution to patients, external physicians, and entities. The role involves direct communication with healthcare providers regarding radiology images, including reporting critical findings, and assisting with training on dictation processes.

Requirements

  • High school Diploma
  • Five years of professional, customer service or healthcare experience.
  • Maintains working knowledge of EPIC, PACS, PowerShare, AMBRA.
  • Process of uploading CDs from outside imaging facilities.
  • Ability to create CDs for distribution to patients, external physicians, and entities.
  • Use computer equipment with Windows based operating systems to read, edit and enter data from multiple diagnostic imaging formats.
  • Familiar with the Epic Radiant dictation process.

Responsibilities

  • Make phone calls to clinicians or other pertinent parties as directed by radiologists and/or residents.
  • Serve as the primary contact for individuals entering the reading room or calling regarding patient care urgency, relaying information to the radiologist on duty.
  • Provide archived data for duplication and export images with corresponding reports to patients and other institutions upon request.
  • Use computer equipment with Windows-based operating systems to read, edit, and enter data from multiple diagnostic imaging formats.
  • Communicate professionally via telephone/email with health providers regarding radiology images, including reporting critical findings.
  • Manually operate scanning equipment such as CD importers and digitizers.
  • Upload images from CD-ROM to Picture, Archive and Communication System (PACS).
  • Use knowledge of imaging modality and anatomy to accurately copy and transfer images into PACS.
  • Assist in training non-radiology physicians on the process of dictating reports into Epic Radiant.
  • Order necessary supplies.
  • Review and approve Kronos detail.
  • Assume leadership responsibilities in the absence of the Sr. Radiology Manager.
  • Apply the profession’s code of ethics and confidentiality.
  • Perform routine tasks in accordance with established guidelines and procedures.
  • Practice safety measures in the Environment of Care.
