About The Position

The Senior Housing Stabilization Specialist is the primary point of contact for housing stabilization services in the International Rescue Committee’s Sacramento Financial Empowerment Center. The program provides direct financial assistance—including rental arrears, utility support, emergency funds, and one-time rent, deposit, and moving assistance—alongside financial coaching to help low- to moderate-income households avoid eviction, prepare for homeownership, and maintain long-term housing stability. The position requires independent judgment and demonstrated experience in eviction prevention and housing stabilization programming. The specialist conducts housing-focused intake and eligibility assessments, reviews supporting documents, develops housing stability plans with financial coaches, administers and documents assistance, and follows up with clients. The role also includes housing navigation, coordination with landlords and service providers, outreach, partnership development, reporting, and accurate recordkeeping in IRC systems and HMIS. HUD Housing Counselor Certification is required within six months of hire if the employee is not already certified. This role has a hybrid work environment with virtual and in-office days, with occasional work from a partner’s office. The current schedule may change. The position is expected to end on November 15, 2027. Compensation is $30.87 per hour. The specialist reports to the Financial Empowerment Center Program Manager and directly supervises interns and volunteers.
