About The Position

Call Your Mother is hiring a Senior Graphic Designer based in Washington, DC. The designer will create visual work across packaging, menus, merchandise, signage, print materials, social media, email, the website, and other channels. The role calls for a creative, resourceful designer who can deliver technically excellent work while reflecting the brand’s colorful, playful, sometimes unconventional and purposefully imperfect personality. The designer will take projects from concept through production and delivery, including preparing print-ready artwork and packaging dielines, working with production vendors, and managing project timelines, proofs, approvals, and quality control. They will also contribute ideas for campaigns, limited-time offers, shop openings, and other brand moments; maintain and evolve the visual identity; and collaborate with Marketing, Operations, People & Culture, IT, Culinary, and the founders.

Requirements

  • Expert-level Adobe Creative Suite skills, particularly Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign.
  • Strong technical knowledge of print production, packaging, dielines, colors, materials, and vendor-ready artwork.

  • Experience working directly with production vendors and managing projects from creative concept through final delivery.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organization, with the ability to manage competing deadlines.
  • A resourceful, hands-on approach, including comfort taking ownership, solving problems, and getting work done.
  • A portfolio demonstrating original creativity and excellent execution.
  • Ability to meet the listed physical requirements, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Nice To Haves

  • Five or more years of professional graphic design experience; this is listed as preferred.
  • Experience with growing restaurant, hospitality, food, beverage, or lifestyle brands.
  • Photography, video, or motion design skills.
  • Familiarity with website CMS tools, email platforms, and emerging creative technologies.
  • Copywriting ability, especially clever headlines and playful wordplay.
  • A sense of humor, curiosity, and appreciation for design that does not take itself too seriously.

Responsibilities

  • Create packaging, menu boards, signage, merchandise, print materials, and digital assets for social media, templated emails, and the website.
  • Take creative concepts through to production, creating technically accurate, production-ready artwork, packaging dielines, and specifications.
  • Apply knowledge of materials, printing methods, and costs when preparing work for production.
  • Manage relationships with printers, fabricators, merchandise suppliers, and other production vendors.
  • Coordinate vendor quotes, timelines, proofs, approvals, and quality control to deliver work on time and within budget.
  • Brainstorm campaigns, limited-time offers, shop openings, brand moments, and other creative ideas.
  • Protect and evolve the visual identity while maintaining the brand’s playful, purposefully unpolished personality.
