The Senior Frontend Developer serves as a technical leader on the Web Systems team, designing, developing, and supporting enterprise web applications used by employees, business partners, and citizens across North Carolina. The role combines hands-on development and technical leadership, with modern AI-assisted development practices—including GitHub Copilot and emerging generative AI technologies—to deliver secure, accessible, scalable, and user-centered digital solutions. The position will help shape frontend development by advancing user experience, automation, and AI-powered tools that improve developer productivity and software quality. The Web Systems unit directs Internet- and intranet-based application development, reporting, server and system architecture, and web system maintenance for NCDOT. It works with NCDOT clients to gather strategic business requirements and build web content, applications, and servers for internal and external users, maintaining those applications throughout their lifecycles. The position may be eligible for hybrid remote work under state policy and the agency's remote work program, but requires weekly onsite work. Any telework arrangement is subject to the State Teleworking Program Policy and may be ended by the employer at its sole discretion. The role is designated Statutory Exempt (EHRA) and is exempt from the State Human Resources Act.
