About The Position

NWS is seeking a Front-End Developer to build, optimize, and improve its customer-facing e-commerce storefront and other digital brand experiences. The role focuses on front-end engineering for an enterprise Adobe Commerce (Magento 2.4+) platform, as well as digital campaign experiences, landing pages, and marketing integrations. The developer will collaborate with the Technical Lead, product and e-commerce stakeholders, UI/UX designers, marketers, and engineering partners to turn business requirements and approved designs into fast, responsive, accessible, and maintainable interfaces. This is primarily a software engineering role. Formal UX research or dedicated visual design creation is not required, but the candidate should be design-literate, able to interpret Figma design systems, identify usability issues, and make thoughtful technical decisions. Direct Adobe Commerce or Magento front-end experience is a strong advantage; modern front-end developers with JavaScript, Tailwind CSS or utility styling, and component-based UI experience are also encouraged to apply. The position covers storefront development, reusable design system implementation, performance optimization, accessibility, marketing technology integrations, technical SEO, Agile collaboration, and thoughtful use of AI-assisted development tools. NWS describes its workplace culture as valuing initiative, teamwork, high values, and integrity. Employment offers are contingent on successful background checks and drug screening where permitted by law.

Requirements

  • Strong front-end software engineering fundamentals.
  • Strong JavaScript experience.
  • Experience with Tailwind CSS or utility styling and component-based UI development, or direct Adobe Commerce/Magento front-end experience.
  • Understanding of user experience, interaction design, accessibility, and e-commerce conversion optimization.
  • Ability to interpret Figma design systems and identify usability friction.
  • Ability to build fast, responsive, accessible, and maintainable web interfaces.
  • Care about interface appearance, performance under load, and usability for customers.
  • Think in reusable, scalable components rather than disconnected, one-off templates.
  • Notice design discrepancies, accessibility barriers, and performance bottlenecks.

Nice To Haves

  • Direct Adobe Commerce / Magento front-end experience.
  • Experience with modern front-end JavaScript, Tailwind CSS or utility styling, and component-based UI development.
  • Practical understanding of user experience, interaction design, accessibility (WCAG), and e-commerce conversion optimization.
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools and sound judgment in their use.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, test, and maintain responsive customer-facing interfaces for the enterprise e-commerce platform and digital web applications.
  • Translate approved Figma designs, wireframes, prototypes, and user stories into clean, modular, high-performance production code.
  • Build and extend storefront themes, layout structures, and reusable template components or modern component libraries.
  • Implement and optimize shopping journeys, including product discovery, faceted search and filtering, product detail pages, interactive pricing tables, shopping carts, customer accounts, and checkout workflows.
  • Build front-end features that work with backend services, GraphQL, and RESTful APIs.
  • Architect client-side state handling to respect Full-Page Cache rules by isolating private customer data in asynchronous client-side requests.
  • Maintain clean, modular, documented, and testable front-end code; participate in code reviews and sprint delivery.
  • Maintain and expand the shared UI design system and reusable component library for consistent typography, spacing, navigation, and form elements.
  • Collaborate with designers, product managers, and marketing stakeholders in design reviews, providing early technical feedback on feasibility, responsiveness, and performance.
  • Ensure consistent presentation and behavior across modern browsers, viewports, operating systems, and device form factors.
  • Identify usability bottlenecks and propose micro-interactions and layout refinements to improve checkout and lead capture.
  • Optimize Core Web Vitals, including LCP, INP, and CLS, and front-end assets such as bundle sizes, critical CSS, asynchronous JavaScript, responsive images, and font delivery.
  • Ensure interfaces target WCAG 2.1 AA compliance using semantic HTML5, valid ARIA roles, keyboard navigation, and visible focus management.
  • Conduct cross-browser, responsive-device, and accessibility audits and remediate UX regressions.
  • Build, style, and launch landing pages and promotional campaign templates with digital marketing and demand generation teams.
  • Implement and maintain front-end event tracking, Google Tag Manager data layers, and analytics telemetry.
  • Embed and style marketing automation assets, such as HubSpot forms, lead flows, and tracking scripts, while mitigating impacts on page load speed.
  • Implement technical SEO practices, including semantic markup, clean DOM hierarchy, and schema.org structured data in JSON-LD.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, estimation, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
  • Partner with the Technical Lead to align front-end components with backend service contracts, deployment hooks, and architectural standards.
  • Provide realistic effort estimates, identify project dependencies early, and communicate technical tradeoffs transparently.
  • Use AI-assisted development tools thoughtfully for coding, testing, troubleshooting, and documentation, with human review for visual fidelity, accessibility, maintainability, and data security.
