Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE)
About The Position
Apex is seeking a highly experienced Senior Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) to drive business transformation through cutting-edge AI and enterprise technology. As an FDE, you will work directly with business leaders and operational teams to define real-world challenges, rapidly prototype AI solutions, and deliver measurable business value. Requirements
- 12+ years of combined business, industry, and technology experience
- Demonstrated success working directly within business operations, not solely as a technology provider
- Functional expertise in at least one domain: Legal, Nutrition, Manufacturing, or Service Management
- Strong executive-facing skills; ability to drive transformation initiatives at the highest levels
- Hands-on experience with AI models (OpenAI, Claude, Gemini)
- Experience designing RAG architectures and building AI agents (LangChain, CrewAI, AutoGen)
- Strong proficiency in Python
- Proficient in at least one major cloud platform (Azure preferred)
- Solid knowledge of SQL, NoSQL, data modeling, ETL/ELT pipeline design
- Familiarity with enterprise platforms (SAP, Salesforce)
- Startup mindset—comfortable in resource-constrained and fast-moving environments

Responsibilities
- Partner with executive stakeholders and operational teams to identify high-impact opportunities for AI-driven transformation
- Translate complex business problems into actionable technical requirements and solution architectures
- Act as a trusted technical advisor to business and functional leaders
- Architect, prototype, and deliver AI-first solutions, including LLM-powered applications, AI agents, and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) systems
- Rapidly build proofs of concept—delivering results within 90 days—and transition scalable solutions to engineering teams
- Design and integrate APIs, enterprise systems, and third-party platforms to ensure seamless deployment
- Iterate closely with users for validation and continuous improvement
