About The Position

The Senior Financial Analyst – Strategic Procurement analyzes purchasing activity, vendor contracts, and operating expenditures for City Utilities to identify cost-saving opportunities, improve procurement practices, and support financial and operational decisions. The role supports vendor negotiations and contract evaluations, contributes to operating and capital budget analysis, forecasting, and expenditure tracking, and develops financial reports, dashboards, and recommendations for leadership. The analyst partners with departments to improve processes, efficiency, and financial transparency. The position is with the City of Fort Wayne. The listed schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, although hours may vary.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, business, public administration, or a related field.
Five years of professional experience in finance, budgeting, procurement, analytics, or related work.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience working with large datasets.
Knowledge of financial analysis and budgeting.
Knowledge of procurement and vendor analysis.
Experience with ERP systems, dashboards, and reporting tools.
Knowledge of contract and pricing analysis.
Knowledge of process improvement and operational efficiency strategies.

Responsibilities

Analyze spending trends, vendor contracts, and procurement activity to identify savings opportunities.
