About The Position

Block is seeking a strategic, hands-on Systems Engineer to lead finance technology transformation. The role owns the architecture and scaling of the technology stack supporting core financial functions across Accounting, Tax, Treasury, Procurement, and FP&A. It combines deep Oracle Fusion expertise with a product-thinking approach and AI-assisted development to automate financial workflows and accelerate delivery. The engineer will partner with business leaders, product managers, and data engineers across Oracle Fusion, in-house applications, integration platforms, and enterprise LLMs. The role focuses on designing and maintaining financial data models and solution architectures across Oracle FAH, GL, SLA, and BIP; building integrations among accounting systems, data lakes, and internal applications; and identifying opportunities to automate financial workflows. The engineer translates accounting principles and business requirements into scalable technical designs and documentation, while supporting cross-functional transformation and financial close-cycle improvements.

Requirements

Hands-on experience configuring, customizing, and supporting Oracle FAH, GL, SLA, and BIP.
Strong proficiency in relational databases and advanced SQL/PL/SQL.
Experience with web services and data formats, including SOAP, REST, JSON, and XML.
Demonstrated experience in accounting process transformations, financial data modeling, and end-to-end solution architecture.
Ability to navigate complex organizational dependencies and turn technical debt into streamlined, automated processes.
Ability to work across business and technical teams and translate business needs into technical solutions.

Nice To Haves

Proficiency in at least one modern programming language, such as Python, Go, or Java.
Experience with peripheral financial modules intersecting with accounting data, such as Tax or FCCS.
Previous experience in fintech, banking, or cryptocurrency platforms.

Responsibilities

Use AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor, Claude, and GitHub Copilot to accelerate delivery.
Design and maintain scalable data models and solution architectures across Oracle FAH, GL, SLA, and BIP for accounting operations and downstream reporting.
Architect, build, and support integrations between accounting systems, data lakes, and internal applications using SQL, PL/SQL, and integration technologies.
Identify system inefficiencies and deploy automation to scale financial workflows and reduce manual operational overhead.
Translate accounting principles and business requirements into scalable technical designs and comprehensive documentation.
Advise senior leaders on solutions combining platforms such as Oracle with internally built applications.
Collaborate with Accounting, Data Engineering, Product Management, and Integration teams to deliver unified, automated enterprise solutions.
Use AI and platform automation to accelerate financial close cycles and expand operating margins.
